Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 256

Archer stood rooted to the spot, completely motionless.

The smile remained plastered on his face, but the light in his eyes was extinguishing, bit by bit.

Jade's fury boiled over, and she suddenly raised her hand, lunging to claw at Archer's face.

Olive lashed out with a kick, landing squarely in the center of Jade's chest.

"Ah!"

Jade flew backward, her spine crashing into the iron gates before she slumped to the ground. She clutched her chest, her face turning a mottled crimson, taking a long time just to catch her breath.

Arthur's expression darkened, and he quickly waved to the security guards standing behind him.

Two guards immediately stepped forward, grabbing Jade by both arms and dragging her up from the pavement.

"Let me go! Do you have any idea who I am? I am Hudson's wife, the legal Mrs. Lancaster! If you dare touch me, I'll make you pay..."

Arthur expressionlessly pulled open the door of Jade's car and tilted his chin toward the guards.

Understanding the unspoken command, the guards shoved the thrashing Jade into the driver's seat. "Get the hell out."

The iron gates slowly groaned shut.

Olive shook off Archer's grip, standing her ground with her hands planted on her hips. "Why did you stop me, Archer? Didn't you hear the garbage coming out of her mouth? I was going to rip it right off her face!"

"Olive, calm down. That's Nora's sister. We can't go starting fights and causing trouble. It'll only put the Boss in a difficult position."

"Shut up!"

Olive glared at him in exasperation, then immediately framed his face with both hands, inspecting him from every angle.

Five angry red welts were raised high on his pale cheek, and a thin trickle of blood seeped from the corner of his mouth.

"Look at you. Your face is a swollen mess."

"Does it hurt?"

"Nope."

Archer caught her hands, offering a careless, easy smile. "It stops hurting the second you touch it, Olive."

"Get out of here!"

Olive swatted his hands away and spun around to leave.

Archer stood there, gently tracing the handprint on his cheek, the corners of his lips curving upward.

"Thanks, Olive."

Olive didn't look back, merely waving a hand over her shoulder.
