Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 278

Nora snapped back to reality and placed her phone face down on the table.

"Nothing. What about you? Did something happen?"

Hudson set his cup down, his voice low. "There's an issue with our international operations. I need to handle it personally."

"Is it serious?"

"It's a hassle, but it's fixable."

She quickly pressed, "Are you well enough for that? Can you even fly right now?"

"It's fine. It's not my first time."

Her frown deepened. "But your condition—"

He cut her off, reaching across the table to grip her hand. "The only thing I'm worried about is you."

She froze for a second before letting out a helpless laugh.

"Why would you worry about me? I'm not a child."

Hudson didn't say a word. He just stared at her with a heavy, somber gaze.

Her heart softened under his intense stare. She squeezed his hand reassuringly. "Don't worry. I'll eat on time, get plenty of sleep, and I won't stay up late. I won't talk to strangers or wander off. Happy now?"

Watching her make such earnest promises, a faint smile touched his lips.

"Silly girl."

He just couldn't bear to leave her.

His days were numbered, and he wanted to make every single second count. Traveling abroad to fix this mess would take at least a week or two.

He really, truly didn't want to leave her side.

...

Back at Cloudwater Estate, Nora started packing his suitcase.

There wasn't much to pack. His overseas residence was fully stocked, so he only needed a few changes of clothes and some personal items.

She folded his shirts neatly and placed them in the luggage, followed by his razor, charger, and passport, tucking each item away with care.

Hudson leaned against the doorframe of the walk-in closet, holding a bowl of freshly washed strawberries.

The bright red fruit sat in a pristine white bowl, glistening with water droplets under the warm lights.
