Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 319

Striding toward them from the airport entrance was a middle-aged man.

He was disheveled and alarmingly emaciated, practically skin and bones, but his eyes gleamed with a terrifying intensity.

He looked like a starving wolf that had lurked in the shadows for far too long and had finally caught the scent of fresh prey.

The moment Nora registered his face, decades of repressed trauma slammed into her like a tidal wave.

A dim room.

The suffocating stench of cheap booze.

Calloused, heavy hands.

Sickening, vile words...

Nora's entire body began to violently tremble.

She felt as if an invisible, crushing grip had closed around her chest, locking her muscles in place. She was utterly paralyzed, unable to move a single muscle.

She tried to scream.

But her throat was locked tight, choking off any sound.

A cold sweat broke out across her skin, soaking her dress and clinging to her like a layer of ice.

The suffocating, drowning despair of her childhood clawed its way back to the surface, pulling her under before she could even gasp for air.

And Arnold Vance was only getting closer.

That little brat Jade hadn't lied!

Staking out that massive estate had paid off. He had finally tracked down his precious girl.

His gaze locked onto Nora, a grotesque grin spreading across his face to reveal rotting, yellowed teeth. "Eleanor! Oh, it really is you! Look how much you've grown. Come here, let daddy give you a hug..."
