Olive shot Arthur a look. His face gave away nothing as he grabbed the car keys.
"Let's go."
Olive tossed her apple core into the trash.
Fine, whatever the boss's wife wanted.
...
The black Maybach rolled out of Cloudwater Estate, heading straight for the airport.
Nora sat in the backseat, a serene smile curving her lips.
From the passenger seat, Olive glanced back. "What are you smiling about?"
Nora blinked, bringing a hand up to her cheek. "Am I smiling?"
"Grinning ear to ear," Olive teased. "You haven't stopped since we got in the car."
The tips of Nora's ears flushed. She turned to stare out the window, but the smile refused to fade.
Arthur caught the exchange in the rearview mirror. A rare, fleeting smirk touched his lips before his expression smoothed back into its usual stoic mask.
When they pulled into the airport parking lot, Nora checked the time—exactly noon.
Two hours to go.
They waited around in bored silence for what felt like an eternity.
"Want a drink, Madam?" Olive, who was terrible at sitting still, was already itching for a distraction.
"Sure."
"Artie?"
"Black coffee, thanks."
"Ugh, how can you drink that bitter garbage?" Olive grumbled, rolling her eyes as she got up to leave.
Nora leaned back in her seat, absently twirling her phone in her hands.
Suddenly, it buzzed against her palm.
Glancing down at the caller ID, she frowned.
