The atmosphere on the other side of the estate was entirely different.
Lawrence Lancaster sat on a sofa in one of the lounges. His usually benevolent face was clouded with dark fury.
"What the hell happened? Didn't I tell you to make a move? Why is Nora walking around completely unharmed?"
"Uncle Lawrence, I have no idea," Silas replied, looking deeply aggrieved.
Silas looked thoroughly wronged. "I sent out a dozen guys, and they all vanished. Their phones are dead, and I can't track them down. It's like they dropped off the face of the earth."
"Didn't you say Hudson didn't bring his usual security detail today? And you managed to lure Arthur away. By all accounts, this should have been a foolproof operation..."
"Useless trash!" Lawrence hissed through gritted teeth.
Silas flinched. It took him a moment to muster the courage to ask, "Uncle Lawrence, do you think it could be Archer and Olive..."
"Impossible."
Lawrence dismissed the idea almost instantly.
Early this morning, he had sent Hugo and Harvey to keep tabs on Olive and Archer. They had just reported back that the duo was still at Cloudwater Estate.
So what went wrong with Silas's men?
Even if they were a bunch of idiots, they shouldn't have failed to take down one defenseless woman.
Lawrence's expression darkened. His original plan was to have Silas's men deal with Nora. She was just a pampered girl—there was no way she could fend off a group of burly men.
As long as they ruined her, Hudson was guaranteed to lose his mind.
And Hudson's volatile condition couldn't handle that kind of psychological trigger.
Over the years, even though Lawrence had been abroad, he frequently used Silas to test Hudson's defenses. But every attempt had ended in failure—until Silas recently trespassed at Cloudwater Estate and got his hand impaled by Hudson. That was when Lawrence knew his opportunity had arrived.
Hudson was like an iron fortress; Lawrence had never been able to break him.
But once a man acquired a weakness, everything changed.
It was like finding a crack in impenetrable armor. A blade could easily slip through and strike a fatal blow!
Looking at the current situation, Hudson clearly hadn't come unprepared.
