"Get out."
Granted amnesty, Liam grabbed his medical kit and bolted for the door. Just before crossing the threshold, he couldn't help but toss one last instruction over his shoulder. "You'd better take it now. It takes at least thirty minutes to kick in."
"Get out!"
The door clicked shut.
Only the two of them remained in the living room.
Nora stared down at the transparent little bottle in her hand, feeling her cheeks burn with a furious heat.
"Um... Liam said you should... maybe take it now?"
Hudson lifted his gaze. His dark eyes locked onto hers, burning with a suffocating, predatory fire.
Her heart raced under the intensity of his stare. Shoving the bottle into his hand, she spun around and bolted for the stairs.
She barely made it two steps before an arm hooked around her waist, pulling her flush against a solid chest.
"Where are you running?" His voice was a husky murmur against her ear, his breath scorching her skin.
"I... I'm going to take a shower."
"Together."
"No... You need to take your medicine first."
Hudson let out a low, dark chuckle. He took the bottle from her, twisted off the cap, and knocked back two pills without even looking.
His Adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed. Tossing the empty bottle onto the rug, he bent down and scooped her effortlessly into his arms.
"You..."
"By the time we're done showering, thirty minutes will be more than enough."
Nora was carried up the stairs, her mind a chaotic blur, her face flushed crimson.
He kicked the bathroom door open.
"It's not too late to back out," he murmured, his voice incredibly rough. He rested his forehead against hers, their breaths tangling together.
Nora hesitated for only a second before looping her arms around his neck and pulling him down.
