"The old man's fund accounts have been completely shorted. I just checked the remaining balance... it's sitting on a measly ten million dollars." Archer's deep voice came through the line, clearly shocked by the pathetic figure.
Lawrence was a senior member of the Lancaster family. Before Hudson took the reins, Lawrence had access to top-tier resources. The wealth he should have amassed over the decades should have been astronomical and terrifying.
Archer had assumed the old man would keep at least a hundred million in the account managed by the twins just to buy their absolute loyalty...
Instead, there was only ten million.
It was nauseatingly hypocritical.
"What do you want me to do with this cash?" Archer asked.
Arthur pressed his lips together. "I'll ask the boss first."
"Alright, I'll wait for your word."
Hanging up, Arthur walked out of the basement.
The seeds of betrayal had been successfully planted.
Now, all they had to do was wait and see when that paranoid old man would decide to clean house and turn on his own people.
Hudson had been preparing this trap for far too long.
Arthur just hoped the outcome wouldn't disappoint him.
...
Meanwhile, in the living room, Nora was curled up on the sofa.
Hudson sat behind her, the palms of his hands resting on her shoulders, applying a firm, steady pressure.
"Feels good?"
"Mhm..." Nora hummed, her eyes half-closed.
Hudson let out a low chuckle. His fingers moved from her shoulders to the nape of her neck, his thumbs pressing upward along the muscles on either side of her spine.
"Tell me if it's too hard."
"Okay."
He massaged for a few more minutes, then his fingers drifted up to the space behind her ears, rubbing softly.
Nora's eyelashes fluttered, a slow flush creeping up her ears.
"Hey... just massage me. Stop touching me like that."
