Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 36

Vera?

Nora's eyes widened in shock.

The world-renowned bridal designer?

She turned to Hudson and whispered frantically, "I thought this was just a contract marriage. We don't need to go to all this trouble..."

Hudson's lips curved into a soft smile. "It's no trouble. It's just a few dresses. They've already been tailored to your measurements. Just try them on."

He turned to Vera. "Is everything ready?"

"Yes, of course. Based on Mrs. Lancaster's measurements, we've prepared twelve main wedding gowns, and twenty-four evening dresses for the reception. They're all set up inside."

Nora was speechless.

A few dresses?

Vera's smile widened. "Please, take a look. We can make any adjustments right here on the spot."

She dramatically pulled back the velvet curtains.

Nora's breath hitched in her throat.

An entire rack of exquisite gowns hung beautifully in the spotlight. Each one was a masterpiece.

The centerpiece was a breathtaking satin mermaid gown, its neckline and sleeves encrusted with intricate pearls and diamonds that shimmered under the soft lighting. The long, sweeping train looked like something out of a fairytale.

"This is the custom piece Mr. Lancaster ordered specifically for you."

Nora turned to look at Hudson, who was casually flipping through a magazine on the plush sofa.

Sensing her gaze, he looked up.

"What's wrong? You don't like it?"

"No, it's..." Nora hesitated. "It's too expensive."

This was just a business arrangement.

A one-year contract where they both got what they needed.

Wearing a masterpiece like this for a fake wedding felt like a tragic waste.

Every inch of his attention was fixated on her, his eyes darkening with undeniable desire.

Feeling suddenly self-conscious under his intense scrutiny, Nora gripped the fabric of her skirt.

"H-how does it look?"

Hudson stood up and slowly walked toward her.

He stopped just inches away, close enough for her to smell his intoxicating scent of mint and cedar.

He reached out, gently tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. His fingers brushed lightly against her skin, sending a jolt of electricity straight to her core.

Nora instinctively shrank back.

"My wife is breathtaking," he murmured, his voice heavy with a seductive gravel.

Nora's ears burned, the air around them suddenly feeling suffocatingly hot.

She lowered her gaze, unable to meet his predatory stare.

Her heart hammered so hard she feared it might burst from her chest.
