Across the parking garage.
Ferris Quinn saw Edmond storming out of the elevators. He quickly tossed his cigarette and jogged over.
"How did it go, Edmond?"
Edmond ignored him, yanking the car door open and dropping into the seat. His face was a mask of pure fury.
Ferris's stomach dropped. "Deal fell through?"
"He sold it to someone else," Edmond growled.
"What?" Ferris was stunned. "To who?"
"I don't know." Edmond rubbed his throbbing temples. "Grant didn't even show his face. He sent his secretary to brush me off."
Ferris didn't know what to say.
The Sterling family might not be the absolute kings of Northampton, but they demanded respect.
Edmond had flown all the way to San Francisco for a scheduled meeting, only to be left waiting for an hour and then dismissed by a subordinate?
It was a massive insult.
"Don't let it get to you," Ferris offered carefully. "San Francisco is a different beast. We're new here, so it's natural we don't know all the players yet."
Edmond remained silent, his jaw clenched tight.
Just then, a black Maybach glided past their vehicle.
Catching the signature 'H' on the license plate, Ferris blurted out, "That's Mr. Lancaster's car again."
Edmond barely grunted in response, his eyes glued to his phone.
Ferris let out a low whistle. "I saw it outside the police station yesterday, and now here it is again. Crazy coincidence, right?"
Edmond ignored him. He was staring at his chat history with Nora, glaring at the red exclamation mark next to his last message.
Ferris raised an eyebrow. "I heard Grant Hamilton is close with Mr. Lancaster. Do you think he's the one who bought Star Entertainment?"
As he spoke, he casually glanced toward the Maybach.
The rear window was cracked open just an inch.
He slid into the back seat. "So, about the acquisition..."
Edmond ordered the chauffeur, his voice dripping with ice. "Drive."
The car pulled out of the garage.
Edmond leaned back and closed his eyes. "Find out who stole Star Entertainment from me."
Ferris nodded. "I'll put my guys on it."
...
The Maybach wove through the bustling streets until it pulled up to an understated building in the Financial District.
The exterior was modest, lacking any flashy signage, but the pristine white gowns displayed in the window were breathtaking.
Nora immediately noticed the lineup of million-dollar sports cars parked out front.
"Mr. Lancaster, Mrs. Lancaster." A sharply dressed, elegant woman hurried out to greet them with a flawless smile. "I'm Vera. Welcome."
