Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 371

Meanwhile, inside the hospital room.

Penelope Reed had just hung up the phone when she turned to Marcus Reed, who was sitting by the bed. "Nora said she's coming over right after work. Listen, some things are hard to explain over the phone. When she gets here, make sure you seize the opportunity to spell out the consequences for her."

Marcus frowned. "What consequences?"

"Don't you have lawyers at your company? Bring one over if you have to. Tell her that being the other woman and destroying someone's relationship never ends well."

Marcus's frown deepened. "Why would we need a lawyer? No matter what, she's still the daughter you carried for nine months. How can you be so heartless?"

Penelope gave a dry laugh, realizing she had sounded too eager. "I just don't want her making the wrong choices. Has anyone ever had a happy ending as a homewrecker?"

Marcus didn't reply. He simply gave her a complicated look.

Over a decade ago, Penelope had been the nanny at the Reed Residence. Back then, while his wife was taking calls in the living room, Penelope had the audacity to sleep with him in the maid's quarters. He had only been looking for a thrill. Driven crazy by her seduction, it became a regular occurrence for them to hook up in the master bedroom in broad daylight. Sometimes they even did it in the kitchen.

It wasn't until she got pregnant with Xavier Reed that she finally managed to usurp his wife and secure the title of the legal Mrs. Reed.

Now, looking at Nora...

Sure enough. Like mother, like daughter.

...

Just after quitting time, Nora's phone buzzed.

Hudson: [I'm downstairs.]

Nora smiled, texted back a quick 'Okay', and packed up her things to leave.

Down in the dimly lit underground parking garage, a black Maybach was parked quietly in the corner.

Nora walked over briskly and climbed into the passenger seat.

The corner of Hudson Lancaster's lips curled up. "Should we grab dinner before heading to the hospital?"

"I'm good. I had a slice of cake earlier, so I'm not really hungry."
