Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 383

"Hudson!"

Silas slammed his hands on the table and shot up, his chair scraping violently against the hardwood floor.

The air in the room instantly froze.

Hudson methodically picked up a silver fork, twirling it between his long fingers, before slowly raising his eyes to meet Silas's glare.

His dark eyes held zero warmth.

Beside him, Ginger went deathly pale. She grabbed Silas's sleeve. "Silas... my stomach... it's suddenly cramping..."

Silas didn't move an inch, his eyes locked in a death stare with Hudson.

Panic flashed across Ginger's face. She pulled harder on his arm. "Silas!"

That finally snapped him out of it.

He took a deep breath, forcing down his boiling rage. Shooting Hudson one last icy glare, he turned and quickly escorted Ginger out of the dining room.

The rapid footsteps faded down the hallway.

The room descended back into quiet.

Nora reached over and slipped her hand into Hudson's, lacing their fingers together.

Hudson instinctively looked over.

Nora offered a soft smile. "Let's go home."

When his gaze met hers, the freezing hostility in his eyes melted away completely.

"Alright. Let's go home."

It had been autumn in San Francisco for over a month, and the night breeze carried a sharp chill.

Nora instinctively shrank her neck against the cold.

A second later, a suit jacket carrying a crisp, familiar scent was draped over her shoulders.

Nora pulled the lapels tighter and glanced at Hudson. "Do you think... the baby is okay?"

"What? Are you worried about what happened the last time you two met?"
