Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 400

...

By the time Jude Winslow and Finnian Fairchild arrived at the hospital, the sun was already setting.

The two men walked into the VIP suite one after the other. Jude carried an elegant fruit basket, while Finnian walked in empty-handed, his face as cold and unreadable as an executive arriving for a hostile takeover.

"I heard you rear-ended someone?" Jude placed the basket on the nightstand, eyeing Hudson up and down. "You don't look like you're dying."

"Because I'm not." Hudson leaned casually against the headboard, one knee bent, radiating relaxed arrogance. Jude chuckled and pulled up a chair.

Finnian stood by the window, hands shoved into his pockets, his sharp gaze sweeping the room before landing firmly on Nora.

Nora was sitting quietly by the bed, expertly peeling an apple. The skin curled down in one continuous, perfect ribbon—an oddly mesmerizing sight.

Sensing a heavy gaze on her, she instinctively looked up, but the man had already looked away.

"Word travels fast. It seems you guys are doing pretty well for yourselves in San Francisco. And to think..." Hudson drawled, shifting his dark gaze toward Finnian, his tone laced with mocking amusement. "Even Mr. Fairchild found the time to visit me. I'm truly flattered."

"When you need a favor, it's only polite to ask in person," Finnian replied in a flat voice. He used the word 'ask', but his arrogant posture suggested anything but.

Hudson let out a low chuckle, though not a shred of humor reached his eyes. "Is this how you ask for favors, Mr. Fairchild?"

Jude coughed awkwardly, silently begging the two alpha predators not to tear the hospital room apart.

Both men ignored him completely, their eyes locking in a silent, crackling war of dominance.

Right at that moment, Nora's phone vibrated loudly on the table. She glanced at the screen. "Um, I'm going to take this outside..."

"Go ahead." The second Hudson looked at her, his icy aura vanished, replaced by a warm, affectionate smile.

Finnian pressed his lips into a tight line. He had heard rumors that the ruthless Hudson Lancaster utterly worshipped his new wife, but he had assumed it was exaggerated gossip.
