By the time they arrived at the hospital, a crowd was already gathered outside the operating room. The atmosphere in the corridor was so suffocating it was hard to breathe.
Beatrice sat rigidly on a bench, her silver hair perfectly coiffed, her spine ramrod straight. Her face remained relatively composed, but the knuckles gripping her cane were completely white.
Eleanor stood behind her, radiating anxiety as she constantly darted glances toward the surgical doors.
Silas leaned against the wall, his face a ghastly shade of gray. The second he spotted Hudson and Nora approaching, his eyes went bloodshot, and he lunged.
"Hudson!"
He threw a wild punch, aiming straight for Hudson's jaw.
But before his fist could even connect, Arthur stepped in, violently grabbing his wrist and twisting it. He slammed Silas's arm behind his back, drove a knee into the back of his leg, and brutally pinned him face-first against the wall.
With his cheek crushed against the freezing tile, Silas thrashed desperately, but he couldn't budge an inch.
"Let me go! Who the hell do you think you are? You're just a dog, and you dare lay hands on me?!"
Arthur remained entirely expressionless, his iron grip refusing to yield.
Silas's face was shoved harder against the wall, his voice distorting under the pressure. "Did you hear me?! I am—"
"Enough! Both of you, stop this instant!"
Just then, Beatrice marched over, her cane clicking sharply against the floor. Her fierce gaze swept over both men. "Brawling in a hospital? Haven't you dragged the Lancaster name through the mud enough today?"
Arthur didn't move a muscle.
It wasn't until Hudson softly commanded, "Arthur."
Only then did he release his grip and step back into the shadows.
Rubbing his bruised wrist, Silas glared viciously at Arthur, practically spitting hellfire.
His arm throbbed agonizingly, his bones having creaked under the pressure. He was certain a tendon had been strained.
That feral dog!
One of these days, he was going to chop that bastard's hands off.
