Hudson stared at him with chilling apathy, a cold sneer curving his lips. "Ginger showed up at my doorstep of her own free will. My people never laid a single finger on her."
"Bullshit!"
Beatrice pinched the bridge of her nose, her voice laden with exhaustion. "Enough. I'm tired."
Eleanor immediately supported her arm. "Mom, let me take you home..."
The two women began walking toward the elevators. After a few steps, Beatrice paused. "Hudson, come with me."
Knowing she had questions that demanded answers, Hudson didn't hesitate. He laced his fingers through Nora's and followed.
...
The elevator descended in silence, dinging open at the basement level.
The underground parking garage was eerily quiet, the only sound a distant hum of an engine.
Clement opened the rear door, and Beatrice slid into the back seat.
But Hudson remained standing outside, making no move to get in.
A few steps away, Nora stood waiting, with Arthur hovering closely behind her, his eyes scanning the shadows with high alert.
"Hudson."
Beatrice's voice drifted out from the darkened interior of the car, tinged with heavy fatigue. "What really happened to Ginger's baby? Did you do this?"
Leaning lazily against the car door, Hudson pulled a cigarette from his pocket, clamped it between his lips, and lit it.
"What if I did?"
Silence stretched from the back seat before Beatrice let out a long, shuddering sigh. "If you were truly that ruthless, you would have killed her the moment she tried to drug you. Why wait until now?"
Hudson's expression turned frostier, but he stayed silent.
Beatrice pressed her lips into a thin line. "You know something, don't you? How could a perfectly healthy pregnancy suddenly turn into a dead fetus?"
Hudson pulled out his phone, brought up the copied security footage, and handed it through the window.
