Nora's heart skipped a beat. "How could it be this bad?"
The doctor gave her a level look. "The patient appears to have undergone multiple blood withdrawals recently, without adequately replenishing her nutrition. Her body is in a state of severe exhaustion. We need to administer a blood transfusion immediately and keep her hospitalized for observation."
Nora nodded frantically. "Okay, thank you, Doctor."
The nurses wheeled Sienna out of the emergency room, transferring her to the inpatient ward.
Nora walked alongside the gurney, looking at Sienna's paper-white face, her chest aching with a mix of sorrow and anger.
Once they reached the room, the nurses settled Sienna into bed, rattled off a few standard instructions, and left.
Nora sat by the bed, holding Sienna's icy hand, her eyes rimmed with red.
What an idiot.
Destroying her own body for some man... was it really worth it?
Just then, the phone vibrated.
The caller ID flashed on the screen—Finnian.
Staring at his name, the anger in Nora's chest instantly ignited into a raging inferno.
She took a deep breath and swiped to answer.
Finnian's icy voice came through the speaker, heavy with accusation.
"Sienna, what the hell happened? Liana just called me, crying hysterically, saying you slapped her? You know her medical condition. If something happens to her, you're the one who has to give her blood anyway..."
Hearing his lecture, Nora was so furious her fingers shook.
The audacity.
She was truly witnessing peak delusion.
"Is this a habit of yours, Mr. Fairchild? Only listening to your sister's one-sided sobbing and immediately calling to point fingers?"
The line fell dead silent for a second.
"Ms. Reed?"
"It's me."
"Where is Sienna?"
"She just passed out from giving your precious sister too much blood. She's in the hospital right now."
Finnian's voice hitched slightly. "Which hospital?"
"San Francisco Central Hospital, inpatient ward, seventh floor." Nora paused, her tone turning glacial. "Don't you want to know what your sister actually said?"
