Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 42

He released her hand, bracing his weight on either side of her, and looked down with a husky voice. "I didn't take anything."

Nora didn't buy it.

He clearly couldn't perform just last night, and now...

She bit her lower lip, whispering, "Then how did you..."

Hudson arched an eyebrow. "How did I what?"

Nora couldn't bring herself to say it.

She wouldn't say those words even if her life depended on it.

Watching her look like she wanted the floor to swallow her whole, the amusement in his eyes only grew.

He lowered his head and pressed a soft kiss to the corner of her mouth.

"Can we continue?" he asked, his voice rough with blatant restraint.

"Let me show you exactly what I can do..."

But Nora was convinced he was just being stubborn. Seeing him leaning in for another kiss, she hurriedly pushed against his shoulders.

"Wait... wait!" she blurted out. "Taking too many pills is bad for you, you... you can't do this!"

Hudson froze for a second before realizing exactly what she meant.

He chuckled, the deep sound vibrating in his chest and sending a flutter through Nora's heart.

"You think I popped a pill?" he asked.

Nora just looked at him, remaining silent, but her eyes screamed: What else could it be?

Staring at her earnest, thoroughly embarrassed expression, Hudson suddenly lost the urge to explain.

He leaned down, his lips grazing her ear, his voice dropping into a seductive murmur. "Do you want to verify it yourself? Find out if I took anything?"

Nora's heart skipped a beat.

His breath was scorching hot against her skin, and his large hand slowly slid down from her waist...

Nora shuddered, quickly grabbing his wrist.

"No... you can't!"

Hudson stopped.

He looked at her, the heavy desire in his gaze mingling with sudden question.

"What's wrong?"

Nora bit her lip, averting her eyes.
