Hunter clamped a hand over Vincent's mouth and dragged him outside.
"Mmph..."
They quickly exited the arrivals hall.
Hunter hailed a cab, yanked open the back door, and tipped his chin at Vincent. "Get in."
Vincent obediently slid into the backseat. Hunter followed and gave the driver the address. "Take us to the Lancaster Research Lab."
The cab merged into the traffic.
Vincent pressed his face near the window, his eyes filled with wonder as he watched the cityscape blur past.
"The skyscrapers here are so tall," he murmured, turning his head. "Way taller than back in France."
Hunter glanced at him, raising an eyebrow. "You've never been here?"
"No." Vincent pulled his gaze away and leaned back. "This is my first time in the States."
"Then how is your English so flawless?"
"My mother was American, and I majored in literature..." Vincent smiled softly. "I've always been fascinated by American history, so I read a lot growing up. Plus, as the old saying goes..."
Before he could start quoting poetry, Hunter shot him an impatient glare. "Zip it."
With that, Hunter pulled out his phone and dialed a number.
It was answered on the second ring.
"Hey, I'm here. Where are we meeting?"
Hudson's amused voice came through the receiver. "That was fast."
"You gave me a job, I wasn't going to drag my feet." Hunter rested his arm on the edge of the window. "Should I head straight to the lab? Or..."
"Come straight to the lab. I'm in my office."
"Alright." Hunter paused, glancing at the Duke's son, who was once again glued to the window. "By the way, I brought a friend with me."
"Your boyfriend?"
"A friend!" Hunter corrected through gritted teeth. "If you keep spouting that nonsense, I'm going to punch you."
A low chuckle rumbled from Hudson's end of the line. "Fine, fine. A friend it is. Bring him along. We can all grab dinner tonight."
"Got it."
