The blunt question caught Finnian off guard. He cleared his throat awkwardly. "It's not exactly about being broke. It's just... you know our family's microchip development has been lagging behind for years. We're on the verge of falling out of the top tier. If we had the backing of that gold mine, our research and development could finally break through."

Nora let out a soft, melodic laugh and tossed the question right back. "And do you really think the Fairchilds deserve half of it?"

Finnian pressed his lips together. He silently cursed Hudson for rubbing off on his sister—she had become ruthlessly direct.

"Then do me a favor. Tell Dad that the mine belongs to both me and Jude. I can't make that decision on my own."
