Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 797

The landscape before them was a desolate expanse of jagged rocks and loose gravel. A few gnarled, pathetic-looking trees clung to life between the boulders, offering the only spots of green.

But what immediately caught their attention was the fleet of heavy-duty dump trucks hauling massive loads of stone out of the area. This was an active, large-scale rock quarry.

"This is the spot."

Hunter flipped his sunglasses up onto his head. "I thought I was lost the first time I came out here too. But I verified the coordinates. This is definitely the gold mine."

"Then why are people mining rocks on our land?" Grant scowled.

Hunter let out a dry laugh. "Take a wild guess."

Grant groaned.

He didn't need to guess.

The land had been sitting abandoned for over two decades; it was only natural that local scavengers had moved in to claim it.

No wonder Hunter had told Hudson not to rush the Vanguard tech equipment over.

They couldn't start a massive drilling operation with an illegal quarry running right on top of their site.

They had to clear the trespassers out first.

"So what's the play? Call the cops?" Grant asked. It was the only legal option that came to mind.

Before Hunter could answer, a loud commotion erupted from behind a massive pile of rubble.
