Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 813

Elias Winslow nodded solemnly. "Who else could it be but the Fairchilds?"

After all, the Winslow family ranked second among Northampton's elite. The only family with the power to suppress them was the Fairchilds.

Jude Winslow frowned. "I'll go find Finnian. He's a Fairchild, he must know something..."

Elias grabbed his arm. "There's no point in looking for him. Who do you think has this kind of underhanded reach besides the current head of the Fairchild family, Henry?"

"Henry?" Jude's frown deepened. "But why would he steal the Ivory Pill? Hudson needs that to save his life."

Elias scoffed coldly. "Henry only managed to stand out among his brothers back then because he found a good wife to leech off of. Without Felix Vaughn, he's a nobody! The Fairchilds have maintained their spot as Northampton's top family all these years mostly thanks to the foundation Matriarch Fairchild built over the decades, plus having an outstanding heir like Finnian. Otherwise, how could Henry possibly secure his position?"

"That fool probably has his eyes on the Aurora Gold Deposit. It's an astronomical fortune. Henry must have approached Nora and Hudson, and when they turned him down, he set his sights on the Ivory Pill."

Jude pressed his lips together. "What do we do now? How can we get the Ivory Pill back?"

Elias sighed. "I blame myself for not keeping it secure. If I hadn't been thinking about leveraging it for the Winslow family's benefit later, I would have just given the whole Ivory Pill to Hudson right then and there. At least we would have earned a favor."

Seeing Elias's pale face, Jude didn't want to press the issue. He patted the older man's hand. "Don't worry, Grandpa. Leave the rest to me. I'll handle it."

Elias slowly closed his eyes. He was getting old.

It was time to leave the rest to the young.

He was done fighting.
