Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 820

Hudson laughed coldly. "Did you forget he wanted Nora's gold mine?"

His tone was flat, devoid of emotion, yet his words carried an icy edge. "When Nora refused to hand over half the gold mine to the Fairchilds, he turned his sights on the Ivory Pill. Now that he's holding the only thing in the world that can save my life, do you really think he'll settle for just half the mine like before?"

Hudson narrowed his eyes. "Tell me, how big do you think his appetite is now?"

Finnian stood rooted to the spot, his chest heaving. A loud ringing filled his ears.

He didn't want to believe it.

Or rather, he was terrified to believe it.

"I'll look into it..."

Finnian finally managed to say, his voice raw and strained. "If it's true..."

He stopped, his Adam's apple bobbing. Unable to finish the thought, he spun around and stormed out of the bedroom.

It wasn't until the roar of Finnian's car engine faded into the distance that Jude let out a heavy sigh. "Hudson, I'm sorry... No matter what, it's the Winslow family's fault for failing to guard the Ivory Pill. We are entirely to blame."

Jude pressed his lips together, taking a deep breath. "If Henry Fairchild wants the gold mine, I can transfer my half of the shares to him right now as compensation. It doesn't equate to the value of the Ivory Pill, but..."

"Jude."

Hudson calmly cut him off before he could finish.

"This isn't on the Winslows. Henry got greedy, and Elias was a victim too. You don't need to shoulder the blame for this."

Jude tightened his jaw, clearly brushing off the reassurance.

"No, it's the Winslows' mistake... I will take responsibility for it."

He took another deep breath and looked at Hudson. "Alright, get some rest. I'll visit you another day. Call me if you need anything."
