Nora quickly shook her head. "Finnian, don't..."
Finnian waved a hand to stop her, taking a deep, ragged breath to steady himself. He turned his intense gaze toward Hudson. "I'll handle the situation with The Ivory Pill. I'm going to have a talk with my father."
"And negotiate with what?"
Hudson raised an eyebrow, his tone laced with cold pragmatism. "Do you have the financial backing? The authority? Why would he ever listen to you?"
"I..."
Finnian instinctively tried to argue, but the words died in his throat.
Hudson was right.
He had absolutely zero leverage. Why on earth would Henry care what he had to say?
Unless...
Finnian's lips pressed into a grim line. "It doesn't matter what it takes. I will find a way to get that remaining half of the pill back."
Without waiting for Hudson or Nora to respond, he spun on his heel and strode toward the door.
He paused at the entryway, glancing back at Nora one last time. A heavy silence hung in the air before he pulled the door open and walked out into the night.
The moment the door clicked shut, Nora let out a breath and turned to Hudson.
"When did you hide him in the tea room? I didn't even know he was here."
Hudson caught her hand, pulling it into his warm grasp. A faint smile touched his lips. "Just before your father arrived. I didn't think he'd make it in time, but he pulled through."
She stared at him, her mind racing to process the sheer weight of what just happened.
"So... Finnian was there for the whole thing?"
"Yeah."
Nora was speechless.
No wonder Finnian had looked so completely devastated.
He had to stand there and watch his own father systematically rob his sister blind, all while weaponizing the concept of family to do it.
