Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 90

Sebastian didn't say a word, his face carved from stone as he marched down the concrete corridor.

The heavy steel door to the holding cells was wide open. A chorus of groans and harsh cursing echoed from the dark room.

Grant's mocking smile faded. He followed Sebastian inside.

The basement was freezing, the air thick with the metallic stench of fresh blood and damp concrete. Five heavily armed guards were backed into a corner, looking completely terrified. When they saw Sebastian, they immediately parted, creating a path to the center of the room.

Sebastian stepped forward, his eyes sweeping the carnage.

Two bodies lay perfectly still on the ground, hastily covered with white sheets. The remaining guards were bleeding, nursing broken bones and deep lacerations.

Sebastian's aura turned lethally cold.

"What happened here?" he roared. "Ten highly trained men, and you couldn't handle one woman?!"

The lead guard swallowed hard, sweat dripping off his bruised face. "Boss... she looked harmless. But the second we let our guard down, she snapped. She's a professional assassin. She was completely merciless. She..." He hesitated, glancing at the sheets. "She snapped two of their necks before we could even draw our weapons, and gutted the rest of us."

Sebastian's fists clenched until his knuckles cracked. "Where is she?!"

"She... she vanished into the ventilation shafts. We lost her."

"Useless!" Sebastian snarled, kicking a metal folding chair across the room with a deafening crash.

Grant leaned against the concrete wall, completely unfazed by the violence. He pulled an unlit cigarette from his pocket, spinning it thoughtfully between his fingers. "A female assassin who can wipe out a squad of armed guards? That's top-tier talent."

The guards kept their heads down, completely silent.

Hudson stood perfectly still in the doorway. His dark eyes scanned the blood spatter on the walls and the two corpses on the floor. His expression was completely blank, but the temperature in the room seemed to drop ten degrees.

"Who sent her?" Hudson demanded, his voice a lethal whisper.

Sebastian turned around, lowering his voice. "We didn't get a chance to break her. But to have the resources to plant a ghost in my club, and the absolute sheer arrogance to strike while you're in the building..."

He met Hudson's cold stare. "It has to be Silas."

Hudson's eyes narrowed into terrifying, predatory slits. "Silas Lancaster."
