Sebastian motioned for two bodyguards to drag the tightly bound woman out of the room.

The woman continued to thrash, muffled whimpers tearing from her throat. Her eyes were wide with resentment and venom, glaring viciously at Nora.

Hudson frowned slightly. He shifted his stance, wrapping an arm around Nora's waist, his broad shoulders completely shielding her from the spy's line of sight.

Blocked from her target, the woman struggled even harder.

Sebastian frowned, stepped up, and delivered a sharp blow to the back of her neck. Her eyes rolled back, and she finally went limp.

"Take her away."

Sebastian waved his hand, and the two bodyguards quickly hauled her out.

The door clicked shut, leaving the suite in silence once again.

Nora quickly stepped back from Hudson's embrace and looked up at him.

That was when she realized something was seriously wrong with his complexion.

His jaw was locked tight, veins pulsing visibly at his temples. His breathing was heavier than usual, as if he were desperately fighting to suppress something.

Nora felt a spike of anxiety. "Hudson? What's wrong?"

Hudson didn't answer. He simply closed his eyes, his Adam's apple bobbing sharply.

His hand was still gripping hers, and he unknowingly increased his force until his knuckles turned white, holding her so tight it started to hurt.

She didn't pull away, just watched him with deep concern.

After a long, agonizing moment, Hudson finally opened his eyes. Meeting Nora's dark, shimmering gaze, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, unlabeled black pill bottle.

It was the exact same one she had seen in the car earlier.

He twisted the cap off, tipped two white pills into his palm, and raised his hand to throw them back without even looking.

But just as the pills brushed his lips, he froze.

He lowered his eyes, staring at the medicine in his palm for a long moment, before curling his fingers into a tight fist.

Nora looked at him in confusion.

"Why aren't you taking them?"

Hudson didn't reply. He just stared at her.
