Hudson didn't slow down. He raised his hand and violently shoved the door open.

Grant had braced himself for a gruesome, bloody scene.

But the moment the door swung open, he froze in his tracks.

Nora was sitting comfortably on the sofa, holding a glass of warm water. She looked completely calm, even relaxed.

And right there on the floor by the coffee table was a woman trussed up like a Thanksgiving turkey.

It was the ghost who had supposedly escaped.

Right now, she was tightly bound with rope, her mouth duct-taped shut. She could only make muffled, incoherent sounds, wriggling on the floor like a caterpillar, entirely unable to break free.

Grant and Sebastian's jaws dropped. They looked like they had just seen a ghost.

But Hudson didn't even spare a glance at the woman on the floor.

He strode right past everyone, his burning gaze fixed solely on Nora.

Before Nora could even stand up, he hauled her into his arms. His embrace was crushing, holding her so tightly it was as if he wanted to fuse her into his very bones.

Nora could barely breathe under his fierce grip. She instinctively pushed against his chest. "Hudson... what's wrong?"

Hudson didn't answer.

He buried his face in the crook of her neck. His breathing was ragged and scorching, sending a sudden shiver across her skin.

His entire body was shaking.

Not just a slight tremor, but violent, uncontrollable shakes.

Nora froze for a second before quickly saying, "I'm fine."

He still didn't speak, but his arms tightened around her.

Through the thin fabric of his shirt, Nora could feel his heartbeat. It was frantic and heavy, practically hammering against his ribs.

She fell silent, wrapping her arms around him and letting him hold her.

It took a long time for his tremors to finally subside.

He pulled back slightly, but his hands remained cupped around her face. His dark eyes scanned her meticulously, examining every inch from her forehead to her chin, as if desperate to verify that she was completely unharmed.
