Chapter 90

Luna’s POV

I was still thinking to myself that Theo had to be messing with me when ! finally arrived in front of Coach Ramirez’s office There was simply no way things were going to go as smoothly as Theo had claimed they would. This was Coach Ramirez were talking about, the same man who once yelled at one of the athletes for arriving two minutes late to training because believed lateness showed weakness and lack of discipline.

Missing an entire practice session without warning him beforehand should have been enough reason for him to love his mind completely, especially since the intercollegiate meet was getting closer every day.

The more I stood there outside his office door, the more nervous I became. My stomach twisted so badly that I honestly fo like throwing up. I kept trying to calm myself down by reminding myself that avoiding frm would only make things wors but that did not stop my heart from pounding wildly inside my chest. Even Moon had gone unusually quiet inside my he which somehow made me even more nervous because if even my wolf had nothing encouraging to say, then maybe I real was doomed.

I took a deep breath slowly before raising my hand and knocking on the office door. Almost immediately. Coach Ramirez voice came from inside.

Come in.

I swallowed hard before opening the door and stepping into the office carefully. The familiar smell of coffee and old paper immediately hit my nose, and the sight of Coach Ramirez sitting behind his desk somehow made my anxiety worse. He wi focused on some papers in front of him when I entered, and for a brief second. I braced myself mentally for the yelling thi I was certain was coming.

Instead, he simply looked up at me calmly. What are you doing in my office?he asked in a voice that was far more relaxev than I expected. Aren’t you supposed to be getting ready for practice?

As he spoke, he looked back down at whatever he had been working on before I interrupted him like my presence was not even important enough to fully hold his attention. I just stood there staring at him for a second because honestly, my brain completely stopped working from shock.

That was it? No yelling? No lecture? No threats about removing me from the team?

I blinked a few times before finally forcing my frozen brain to function again. Iuh. I stuttered awkwardly befoge cheating my throat quickly. I came to explain why I missed practice yesterday Cch. I also wanted to apologize for no you beforehand.

Coach Ramirez finally looked up at me again then, and for a second, his tace remained unreadable Fouad se ogressure coming from him despite how calm he sounded, and honestly, it somehow made him even wanich lei himself not to explode.

I was already notified about your reasons,he said simply So there’s no need for you a come her explaining thing ! already know

I froze again.

Theo really had not been lying

For some reason, hearing Coach Ramirez confirm that someone had already spoke to him on my behalf to me texl strangely unsettled. Theo had sounded so casual about it earlier that I genuinely thought he was post messing with nae for fun, but clearly, he had actually done something

Bosch Ramirez leaned back slightly in his chair before continuing. You are one of the key runners for the upcoming meet, Luna You already thissed practice for one day. What you should be doing now is making up for that lost time instead of standing here talking to me.

I honestly did not know what expression was currently on my face, but inside, I was completely stunned. The coach was calm, and somehow, that almost felt worse than him yelling at me.

Even though he was not being openly harsh, I still felt like he was angry underneath it all and simply choosing not to show it fully. His voice was controlled, but there was still a kind of tension sitting underneath his words that made me nervous. It felt like he was restraining himself for some reason.

I quickly straightened up. It won’t happen again.I promised immediately. I’m really sorry, Coach. I won’t disappoint you.

He waved one hand dismissively at me almost immediately like he no longer wanted to continue the conversation. Go get ready for practice.

That was clearly my signal to leave. Yes, Coach,I replied quickly.

I did not waste another second standing there. I thanked him again before practically rushing out of the office before he suddenly changed his mind and remembered he was supposed to yell at me.

The second the office door closed behind me, I let out the deepest breath of relief imaginable. I genuinely felt like I had just escaped death. My heart was still pounding wildly inside my chest as I leaned briefly against the hallway wall while trying to process what had just happened.

That was weird,I muttered quietly to myself because it was weird.

Coach Ramirez had definitely been upset. I could feel it, but he had controlled it completely, which honestly felt unnatural coming from him. Usually, he never bothered hiding his disappointment whenever any of us messed up.

I pushed myself away from the wall slowly before starting to walk again, but my mind kept replaying the conversation over and over. What exactly had Theo told him? Had Theo personally spoken to him himself? And if he did, what excuse could he possibly have used that convinced Coach Ramirez to let the situation go so easily?

My confusion only kept growing the more I thought about it. There is something really interesting about him,Moon suddenly commented inside my head.

I rolled my eyes immediately while walking down the hallway. You mean Theo, right?

Yes, him,Moon admitted shamelessly. He’s quite intriguing.”

As much as I didn’t fully agree, I couldn’t deny that there was something odd about Theo and scary well. He always acted too relaxed about everything, and it made him difficult to understand sometimes. One second he was joking around and flirting like nothing in the world mattered, and the next second he was somehow solving major problems behind the scenes without even making it look difficult.

I was still deep in thought when my phone suddenly buzzed loudly in my hand with a notification I frowned slightly before unlocking it, and the second I saw Theo’s name on the screen, I immediately groaned internally

I opened the message quickly Decide which day of the weekend you’ll be dedicating to me

Right underneath it was another message. And don’t even think about going back on your word.

I stared at the screen for several long seconds in complete disbelief. Then reality finally hit me fully, remunding me that I had actually agreed to spend an entire day with Theo Vale.
