Chapter 96

Luna’s POV

I had already concluded in my mind that Theo was going to take me to some fancy restaurant and talk me to death, but when I noticed that we were suddenly in the middle of nowhere and that Treo was driving farther and further into the forest, I slowly turned to look at him with a confused look on my fare

The road had become emptier the longer we drove, and now there were barely ever, signs of civilization around us anymore. Tall trees surrounded us from both sides, and the farther we drove ia, the more the place started to look like the setting of one of those horror movies where people disappeared forever and were never seen again. Even the road itself looked quieter and older now, and the only thing stopping me from fully panicking was the fact that Theo looked way too relaxed behind the wheel.

I narrowed my eyes at him suspiciously before finally asking. Where in the world are you taking me, and what exactly are we doing in the middle of nowhere?

Instead of giving me a clear answer like a normal person who didn’t want his passenger to think he was a serial killer. Theo simply smirked, actually smirked. The idiot looked amused by my confusion, and somehow that only annoyed me more. His fingers tapped lazily against the steering wheel while his stupidly calm eyes briefly shifted toward me before returning o the road again.

Are you scared?he asked casually.

I scoffed loudly at him in disbelief before crossing my arms over my chest. Have you completely lost your mind?I asked. If you’re taking me somewhere to hurt me, I swear I’ll kill you.

The words barely left my mouth before Theo burst into laughter, the kind that made his shoulders shake slightly as though I had just said the funniest thing in the world. I frowned harder at him while Moon practically purred happily in my head just because Theo was laughing.

I’m serious,” I warned him.

Theo shook his head lightly before finally calming down enough to speak again. For starters,he said with amusement still very obvious in his voice, if it got down to who could kill who, you’re definitely no match for me.

I rolled my eyes so hard it almost hurt, but annoyingly enough, I could not even deny it. Now that I knew he was an Alpha werewolf and not just some overly cocky football player, I was unfortunately aware that he probably could throw me over his shoulder without much effort if he wanted to. Still, I refused to let him see even the slightest bit of intimidation on my

face.

He grinned shamelessly before continuing, Relax, though. Killing you would literally be the last thing I’d ever do.

For some reason, the way he said it made my chest tighten just a little, but I ignored the feeling immediately. I had already decided that Theo was dangerous in the most annoying possible way. He said ridiculous things with a straight face and somehow still managed to sound very fake while saying them.

I stared at him suspiciously for another few seconds before asking again, Then where are you taking me?

This time, he finally answered properly. To my pack.

For a second, I was confused, my brain was not quick enough to understand the word because I was still new to all of this. The word packstill sounded strange to me sometimes, like something straight out of one of those supernatural movies people watched for fun, but as soon as I understood what he meant. I turned toward him so quickly that my seatbelt dug painfully into my shoulder.

Wujur what I med stupidly even though I had heard him perfectly

My pack.Theo repeated casually like he had just told me he was taking the to some coffee shop

It took me another moment before understanding finally hr me fully, and I immediately turned toward him again. Wait.1 said. What am I supposed to do in your pack and why are you taking me there of all places?

The more I thought about it, the more nervous became. Meeting Thro alone already felt stressful enough most of the time because I could never tell when he was being genuine or when he was simply trytag to flirt for fun. Now he was casually telling me he was taking me somewhere filled with other werewolves, bike that was supposed to sound comforting

Theo shrugged one shoulder casually, though his eyes remained on the road ahead of us. Well, you’ve never been to a pack before,he said. And technically, you don’t belong to any pack right now either, so I figured you should see for yourself what one is actually like.

He said it so naturally that it almost made me forget how insane the conversation actually was. I stared at him quietly while he continued driving. The car moved smoothly along the road while sunlighfashed through the trees around us. Somehow, hearing him say that I didn’t belong to any pack made me feel strange inside. It reminded me once again that I eally didn’t know where I belonged anymore.

He continued speaking before I could say anything else. Besides,he added, this is also a good way for you to get to know ne outside of me just being some playboy who plays football in college.

That immediately made me snort. Oh please.I muttered. Are you really more than just that?

Honestly, from everything I had seen so far. Theo mostly acted like an overgrown flirt who enjoyed annoying people for entertainment. The fact that he happened to be ridiculously attractive unfortunately made his behavior worse because he learly knew exactly what effect he had on people. Every smile, every smirk, and every teasing comment always looked way oo practiced.

Theo glanced at me briefly, and for once, the teasing look on his face faded slightly. His expression became a little more erious, and honestly, it caught me off guard because I wasn’t used to seeing him look that way. Most of the time, he always ooked like he was either flirting, joking, or planning to annoy me for fun.

I’m an Alpha, Luna,he said simply. Just because I like to have fun doesn’t mean that’s all there is to me.

something about the way he said it made me glance at him again properly. His voice was calmer now, and there was omething steady about it that made me unexpectedly quiet for a second. I didn’t really know how to respond to that nostly because I still didn’t fully understand what being an Alpha truly meant. I knew it was important, and I knewall five of hem had power in this world that I still barely understood, but beyond that, everything still felt confusing.

Not wanting to accidentally start sounding too serious with Theo of all people, I simply rolled my eyes again and leaned >ack against my seat without saying anything else. Theo glanced at me briefly before the corner of his lips lifted again lightly, like he already knew I did not know what to say.

The silence inside the car lasted for a little while after that. I watched the trees continue to pass outside the window while rying not to think too much about the fact that I was willingly heading toward an entire community of werewolves.
