Luis’s POV:
“Alpha, would you dance with me?”

Serena Hum, the heiress of Muses, stood in front of me in a low–cut black gown. Her smile was bold, and her Beta scent carried an open invitation.
I took a sip of my cocktail, my tone flat.
“I can’t dance.”
Serena raised an eyebrow. “So I’m not attractive enough?”
She leaned forward, her dress showing off more than it should.
Gasps came from nearby, but I didn’t even glance her way. “Sorry,” I said. “I’m colorblind.”
Serena frowned, confused.
But I didn’t care. My eyes were already locked on the dance floor.
Deanna was in Jake’s arms. Her gray gown twirled with each step.
I could smell her sweet Omega scent, which was mine now, mixed with another Alpha’s. Rage shot through me like fire, and inside me, Griffin roared furiously.
“It’s just a dance, right? Let’s go,” I said to Serena.
She blinked in surprise, then lit up with delight. “I knew you wouldn’t turn me down.”
Serena reached for my hand, but I ignored it.
I grabbed her wrist instead and pulled her straight onto the dance floor.
Serena’s POV:
I had almost given up when Luis finally asked me to dance.
Of course, I knew it–no man could resist my charm.
He was just playing hard to get. Clever move, really.

But before I could even place my hand in his, he yanked me toward the floor.
I stumbled, nearly twisting my ankle, but caught myself in time.
I kept up with the waltz, thanks to my years of practice.

My steps steadied, and I quickly lifted my head with a flawless smile. “Alpha,” I teased, “do you like it rough? Maybe later, in a room, we could try…
His only answer was silence.
Puzzled, I followed his line of sight.
”
In the center of the dance floor, Jake was holding a woman in a gray gown close as they moved together.
I let out a soft laugh. “That Alpha is a friend of my father’s. He and that Omega look good together–almost like they planned those matching outfits.”
My smile widened as I leaned toward Luis. “But you and I … We’d make an even better pair.”
The music shifted. The men spun their partners outward in graceful arcs.
Before I could even finish speaking, Luis released me with a sharp flick, sending me spinning
away.
In a flash, I landed right in front of Jake.
What? My partner had been switched? It hit me then.
Luis hadn’t asked me to dance because he wanted to. He only used me so he could trade dance partners.
I’d been played.
Oh my god.
I’m the heiress of Muses!
How dare he treat me like that?
What made me even angrier was Jake’s face–clearly annoyed. His steps turned half–hearted, like he wasn’t even trying.
Seriously? Do I look that terrible?

There are men all over the world who’d kill to hold me, flatter me, or even dream about tearing this dress off.
Sure, Jake was remarkable, but he was definitely not my type.
Deanna’s POV:
I felt a strong hand clamp around my waist and pull me in.
The next moment, I was swept into a familiar embrace.
I jerked my head up and met Luis’s deep, stormy eyes. His gaze was cold and restless, like dark waves crashing across the sea.
Dance partner swaps sometimes happened during a waltz.
It took real skill from the male, and it was also a show of dominance between men.
The sudden move set the crowd buzzing, followed by louder applause and excited murmurs.
It had been two weeks since I’d last seen him, and now he was right here, holding me close.
This was different from standing across from Jake with distance between us.
Luis embraced me in his arms completely, his Alpha presence wrapping me in full.
My heartbeat quickened, no matter how hard I tried to steady it.
He held my waist with one hand, his other hand laced tightly with mine. His polished black shoes struck the floor with exact rhythm, guiding me in smooth, perfect spins.
As the waltz swelled toward the climax, he leaned down to my ear and whispered, “So this is the space you wanted?”
