**Chapter 192: A Fool’s Heart Shattered**
Zelena stood in the center of the room, her head shaking vehemently as tears streamed down her cheeks, each droplet a testament to her fear and despair.
Deanna took a steadying breath, her demeanor unnervingly calm, like the eye of a storm. “Zelena, I have already repaid every kindness you ever extended to me. From this moment forward, I owe you nothing.”
“Deanna, please don’t do this! I admit I was wrong! Just give me one more chance,” Zelena pleaded, desperation lacing her voice as she reached out, hoping to bridge the chasm that had suddenly opened between them.
Without a shred of mercy, Deanna flung the remaining files onto the table, the papers scattering like fallen leaves, before turning on her heel and walking away, her back rigid with resolve.
Violet, who had been lurking nearby, shot Zelena a look brimming with contempt. With a flick of her wrist, she grabbed her luxurious Chanel bag and followed Deanna out, leaving a palpable silence in her wake.
As the door swung shut behind them, Zelena’s eyes blazed with resentment. “Why? I barely spoke to Luis! He didn’t even respond, yet they treat me as if I’ve committed a crime. They call themselves my best friends? No, they’ve been deceiving me from the very beginning!” she muttered under her breath, her heart racing with betrayal.
Maggie remained frozen in place, her face a mask of darkness and unreadability. She had been Zelena’s first hire, a loyal employee for nearly a year.
By all rights, she should have stood by Zelena’s side. Yet, an invisible force held her back.
Biting her lip, Maggie finally broke the silence. “Zelena, I’m really sorry, but I can’t continue working for you. I’m resigning.”
Zelena spun around, shock washing over her features. “Maggie, we’ve been through so much together at Bluewave Studio. You’re quitting because of Deanna?”
She had handpicked Maggie, a human in a world where they were seldom hired, seeing her as an easy target—affordable and compliant.
Now, that very same “cheap” human stood before her, defiance radiating from her dark eyes.
“It’s not just about Ms. Wiley. I may not grasp all the nuances of your werewolf world, but I have my own moral compass. I cannot work under a boss who treats people this way,” Maggie declared, her voice steady.
With that, she turned and walked away, leaving Zelena feeling as if the ground had vanished beneath her.
Inside, Zelena’s wolf spirit roared in fury, a tumult of rage and humiliation crashing within her. “Why? Why would a mere human have the audacity to betray me?”
The office filled with the sound of objects crashing to the floor, a reflection of her inner turmoil.

**Deanna’s POV:**
“Hey, don’t say that. You mean the world to me. I only want you to find happiness,” she reassured me, her sincerity wrapping around me like a warm blanket.
She paused, her brow furrowing in thought before she continued with conviction, “So, Deanna, I’m confident that Luis truly has feelings for you.”
Suddenly, I recalled what Luis had said just yesterday—how he promised to reveal the identity of his first love during my visit to his office.
Violet’s words ignited a restless fire within me. I needed answers.
Why had Zelena tried to seduce him? What was he hiding from me?
Was he worried I would be hurt by the truth?
Why would he fear that?
My heart raced, an urgent need to confront him surging within me.
I bit my lip, the decision crystallizing in my mind. “Violet, I want to go see Luis.”
