Deanna’s POV:

Mistbane Pack’s Moonline Expansion Project still needed four billion in funding, and I knew Jillian would pull every trick she had.

After all, ten percent of the company’s shares meant millions in annual dividends–and more importantly, long–term security. For a human like her, that was enough to secure a foothold in the pack.

I had never cared much about money before.

What I cared about was family, because my adoptive mother, Dorothy, had treated me terribly ―cruelly, even. For twenty years, she kept me under constant emotional manipulation, cold violence, and relentless discipline.

Whenever I scored high on exams, she’d get upset.

If I made a good friend, she’d get upset too.

Even laughing felt like a sin.

Back then, I couldn’t understand why Dorothy hated me so much or why she never wanted me to be happy.

The way she looked at me held no love, only coldness and disgust.

It wasn’t until the truth came out that I finally understood: I wasn’t her daughter at all.

When I was brought back to the Mistbane Pack, I longed for love from Philip and Kathryn, even a shred of care from Desmond.

But to them, Jillian was always the true daughter, the beloved sister.

I swallowed my pride for three long years, only to realize no amount of endurance could buy

their love.

The kidnapping had left me with a lot of realizations.

No matter how much I gave, how low I bowed my head, how loyal and devoted I was, someone who didn’t love me never would.

The problem was, aside from Olsendreich Pack, only Mooncrown Pack had the resources to

invest four billion.

Would I really have to humble myself and go to Jake?

Absolutely not!

I refused to crawl back to that pathetic, one–sided love.

That left me only one option–Luis.

That night, he promised me one wish.

Since he hadn’t agreed to make me his woman, that wish was still unclaimed, which meant I could use it to secure the investment.

Luis‘ POV:

“Alpha, are you even listening to us?”

The anxious voices of the elders crackled through the phone.

“The werewolf guards we sent out haven’t reported back yet, and Mooncrown Pack needs an Alpha heir! If you don’t act soon, we’ll have to arrange a mate for you!”

My lips curled into a smile. “No need. I’ve already found my mate.”

Before they could respond, I hung up and turned back toward my office.

Avery, my beta, came up to me.

“Alpha, Ms. Wiley from Mistbane Pack says she needs to see you.”

Deanna? I had just been thinking about her, and now she was here.

A spark of anticipation ran through me. “Send her straight to my office.”

“What?” Avery blinked.

I gave her a sharp look. “Do I need to repeat myself?”

Jillian’s POV:

I was dressed in a custom Chanel dress, balancing on sky–high stilettos as the elevator carried me to the ninety–ninth floor.

Avery led me down the corridor toward the CEO’s office.

“Avery, I really owe you for this. If I land this investment, I’ll make sure you’re taken care of,” I said, expressing my gratitude.

She coughed lightly as we reached the door. “You’re too polite. You already know our Alpha, yet you still gave me a Hermès bag just to ask for my help.”

Then, she added, “Go on in. Our Alpha specifically asked me to bring you to his office. Make sure you seize the opportunity.”

Know Luis?

Her words threw me for a loop.

I was puzzled, but I still raised my hand and knocked.

A lazy, magnetic male voice drifted from inside. “Come in.”

My heart skipped a beat.

Last time, I had only glimpsed Luis‘ back and profile from afar, yet his image had burned itself into my mind. I had even dreamed about him more than once.

Not only was he impossibly handsome, but he was rich and powerful. If I could hook a pureborn Alpha like him, I’d never have to worry about being cast aside by Mistbane Pack.

Taking a deep breath, I turned the handle and stepped into the office, the sharp click of my stilettos echoing across the polished floor.

“Hello, Alpha.”

Luis looked up at the sound of my voice.

The instant his eyes met mine, my breath caught.

He was devastatingly handsome–skin a cool, pale tone, features sharp and perfectly sculpted. His eyes were long and narrow, and his lips… thin, sensual, dangerous.

Today, he wore a simple gray shirt, the top two buttons undone. His sleeves were rolled to his forearms, revealing lean, corded muscle.

As he wrote, the veins along his arms flexed faintly under his skin, radiating restrained power.

I couldn’t help imagining those perfect hands on my waist, those sinful lips brushing my cheek.

Just the thought made my blood simmer, heat flooding through every inch of me.
