**Chapter 332: How Could You Still Be Alive?**
Deanna could feel the weight of a hostile gaze pressing down on her, a palpable tension that made her skin prickle.
With a determined lift of her chin, she met Ruth’s piercing glare head-on, refusing to flinch.
Does Ruth truly believe I’m still the same Deanna she can manipulate at will?
Gone are the days when I was just a pawn in her game. I possess a rare healing ability now, a power that allowed me to save Luis’s life.
Deanna’s heart swelled with newfound strength, fueling her defiance.
She entwined her arm with Luis’s, her bright, expressive eyes sparkling as she adopted a sweet, yet slightly exasperated tone. “Darling,” she began, “this breakfast is utterly exhausting. Your uncle and aunt certainly know how to make an entrance, don’t they? Showing up at the crack of dawn to spew nonsense in someone else’s home. You’d think they’d have a better sense of decorum.”
Luis’s dark eyes flicked toward her, holding a glimmer of something unreadable, perhaps admiration or understanding.
Then, as if to solidify their bond, his large hand enveloped hers, a reassuring gesture that spoke volumes: He stood firmly by her side.
The moment her words hung in the air, Ruth, Harry, and Grace’s expressions morphed into a storm of fury.
Harry, unable to contain his outrage, barked, “What did you just say, you lowborn woman?! There’s a hierarchy that exists for a reason. Didn’t your parents teach you any manners? Since when does someone of your status dare interrupt their elders?”
Deanna’s smile remained, serene yet filled with an undercurrent of strength. She placed a hand gently over her stomach, her voice calm and steady as she replied, “Hierarchy? I am carrying the only direct bloodline of the Mooncrown Pack, and I am on the verge of becoming the rightful Luna. In this pack, aside from the Alpha, I hold the highest rank. Did any of you show me the respect I deserve just now? Hmm?”
Harry’s face turned a deep crimson, his breath coming in ragged gasps as he pointed an accusatory finger at her, his anger palpable.
“I expected a Mistbane Pack heiress to at least possess some semblance of decorum. I certainly didn’t anticipate you being this shameless! If it weren’t for Luis, an Omega like you wouldn’t even be worthy of speaking to me!”
“Enough!”
Luis’s voice sliced through the charged atmosphere, his tone sharp and commanding. An aura of pureblood Alpha power radiated from him, enveloping the dining room in an oppressive silence. It felt as though the very air had been sucked from the room, leaving everyone breathless.
And she remains unfazed?
Ruth clenched her teeth, her voice dripping with venom as she threatened Luis, “Even if she remains indifferent, you will still perish without a healer. If you continue to defy me for this woman, I will retract every werewolf searching outside! When the full moon rises in a month, we will see if she can save you!”
Luis leaned back in his chair, a smirk curling on his lips as he replied, “Grandma, you actually have the power to call back the search teams.”
Ruth froze, her brow furrowing in confusion. “What do you mean by that?”
With a nonchalant adjustment of the button on his sleeve, Luis spoke slowly, his tone casual yet laced with an undercurrent of seriousness. “The last time I lost control, the curse already manifested prematurely. When my life hung in the balance, you wouldn’t even cast a glance in my direction.”
His words landed like a hammer, striking Ruth’s chest with a jolt of panic.
For a fleeting moment, her face flickered with a mixture of dread, disbelief, and shock.
“T-that’s impossible!” Ruth exclaimed, her eyes widening in horror, her voice sharp with incredulity. “If the curse truly erupted early, how could you still be alive? How on earth could you have survived?”
