Marked By the Pureblood Alpha (Deanna and Luis) novel Chapter 397

Third-person POV:

Onstage, Jennifer heard it—her own voice, talking with Amya and Shelby.

The color slid out of her face until she looked dead pale.

The guests who'd been watching her like she was the highlight of the night now stared like a pack that had just caught the scent of blood—shocked, disgusted, and deeply curious.

Panic showed in her face even though she tried to hide it. Her hands started shaking.

"Ah!"

A short, sharp scream ripped out of her. As if the cello had burned her, she threw the expensive thing down.

Bang!

It hit the floor with a heavy, ugly thud.

Jennifer jumped up, only thinking about one thing—getting away from these vultures.

She didn't get far. Reporters rushed her and boxed her in, shoving microphones so close they practically poked her in the face.

Jennifer roared, "Back off! Are you blind, you idiots?

"That recording is fake! Someone's trying to frame me! Get the hell away from me!"

The gala blew up in an instant.

Down below, Victoria froze—then started looking around, frantic and wide-eyed.

"What is this? What's happening?

"Turn it off! Shut it off right now!"

She yanked out her phone and called Bluestone Pack, scrambling for help.

That was when Deanna stood up and faced Jennifer, her voice cold and steady. "Jennifer, when I was locked in a warehouse at Bluestone Pack and nearly frozen to death—that was you. You threw your nanny under the bus to save your own skin. You even killed her yourself. You're not escaping this."

Jennifer's eyes went bloodshot. She pointed straight at Deanna like she wanted to claw her.

"I'm not admitting anything! You bitch, you're lying! I'll have my lawyer sue you for defamation!"

Deanna met her stare and gave a small smile—one with zero warmth in it.

"Tell your lawyer to worry about bail first."

Jennifer screamed, "Get off me! All of you—get off! Do you know who I am? My grandfather is Bluestone Pack's Alpha! You treat me like this, and I'll make you pay!"

Nobody cared. Not even a little.

The Werewolf Enforcement Bureau ignored her screaming and hauled the Bluestone Pack heiress out of the charity gala.

The second Jennifer was gone, the reporters spotted her mother still sitting there and swarmed Victoria instead.

"Mrs. Barkley, did you know your daughter killed someone?"

"Did she have accomplices? What really happened back then?"

"How is Bluestone Pack going to handle this?"

Victoria slapped the microphones away and glared at them.

"Which outlet are you with, huh? Names. Now. One by one."

The reporters froze for half a beat—then snapped right back into it.

"Mrs. Barkley, it's our job to report the truth. The Werewolf Enforcement Bureau took your daughter—not us."
