Deanna's POV:
When I returned to the Mooncrown Pack's Alpha estate, Luis's black Ferrari was already parked in the garage.
I walked into the main hall and asked the servant, "Where's Luis?"
The servant replied respectfully, "The Alpha is in the study."
"Alright." I nodded.
Before going upstairs, I stopped by the kitchen, took a serving of pudding the staff had just made, and headed toward the study.
I stopped at the study door and knocked twice.
"Come in."
Luis's low voice came from inside the study.
I opened the door and saw Luis standing by the window, one hand in his pocket and the other holding his phone mid-call.
He had broad shoulders and long legs, dressed in a black shirt and black slacks, and even just standing there casually, his commanding presence was impossible to ignore.
I quietly closed the door behind me.
Luis turned around and lifted his gaze toward me.
"Do it that way."
After saying that, he ended the call.
Then, his eyes locked onto me.
Being stared at like that made me uncomfortable. "Is there something on my face?"
"Come here."
I walked over, first placing the pudding on the desk, then stopping in front of him.
Luis took my hand, his gaze deep and unreadable as he looked at me. "When did you get the recording of Jennifer?"
Tonight's charity gala had been packed with reporters, and it had even drawn the attention of the Werewolf Enforcement Bureau.
The incident had blown up completely and was already trending online.
It wasn't strange that Luis knew about it.
I pressed my lips together and explained honestly, "When Violet and I came that day, I had her find someone to tail Jennifer and her friends. We secretly recorded their conversation, then used the recording to expose her. That's what happened tonight."
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"At the time, I wasn't completely sure it was Jennifer. I only suspected her, so ... I didn't say anything."
"Mm."
I looked up. Moonlight spilled across Luis's face, his long lashes lowered, hiding the emotions in his eyes.
"I made sure I wasn't in any danger before doing any of this," I added quickly.
Oops. Busted.
I opened my mouth and took the bite he fed me.
The pudding was rich and creamy, smooth as it melted on my tongue, and the caramel crust was perfectly sweet.
Without thinking, I licked a bit of cream from the corner of my lips.
Luis's gaze darkened slightly, his voice dropping. "Sweet?"
I thought he wanted some, too. "Yeah. Want to try it? It tastes really good."
"Alright."
The next second, he leaned in and kissed the corner of my mouth where the cream lingered. His kiss deepened, his cedar-scented pheromones blending with the sweetness of the pudding.
Mila let out an excited howl in my mind, and heat rushed through my body.
"Yeah. Sweet as hell."
After a moment, he pulled back slightly. His green eyes had narrowed into slits, shimmering with teasing amusement.
A faint blush spread across my cheeks.
Just like that, the pudding was gone.
Outside the window, the night breeze brushed past the mooncalm herb beds on the west side of the estate—plants grown specifically to soothe the mind. Their light herbal scent drifted into the study.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath of the fresh, calming fragrance. Then, I suddenly remembered something and opened my eyes at Luis.
