Chapter 40 Jake, I Don’t Love You Anymore.
Deanna’s POV:
I had just sat down in my office chair when I saw the confirmation notice. A 40 billion investment had cleared.
The amount was so huge that Mooncrown Pack had to wire it in two parts.
Their speed was impressive.
For them, billions seemed no different from a few bucks.
But then again, Mooncrown Pack was the oldest and most powerful pureblood family around. Their money was endless.
Last year’s Wealth Ranking showed that Luis’s net worth had already surpassed Jake’s by several times.

I let out a mocking smile. If Jake could make such a mess of my life, then a werewolf like Luis was someone I could never afford to
cross.
Now, I had only one clear goal–becoming the Alpha of the Mistbane Pack.
I never used to have this kind of ambition.
But lately, it had been forced out of me.
If someone like Jillian could take the position, why shouldn’t I fight to hold it myself?
Owning 30% of the shares would be my best starting point.
I unlocked my phone and opened WhatsApp.
The chat at the top read “Puddy’s Daddy.”
The last message was still from yesterday.
I hesitated, then typed, “Today we received the 40 billion transfer. Thank you. I didn’t mean what I said this morning.”
Knock, knock! Someone rapped on my office door, cutting off my thoughts.
“Ms. Wiley, the chairman wants to see you in his office,” Kylie’s voice called from outside.
“Okay,” I answered.
I rose from my seat, stared at my unfinished message, then erased it all. In the end, I only sent two words-“Thank you.” I stood and walked to the elevator.
When I reached the 27th floor, I stopped at Philip’s office door and knocked.
“Come in,” a deep male voice replied.
I pushed open the door. Along with my father, I spotted a familiar figure sitting on the sofa.

I froze for a moment, then quickly frowned.

“Deanna, you have a ceremonial gown fitting today? Why didn’t you mention it earlier? You shouldn’t have gone to make rounds at the mall and made Jake wait for you all this time.” Philip’s tone carried clear disapproval.
Ceremonial gown fittings?
My eyes flicked toward Jake.
He sat there in a silver suit jacket, his tie looked perfect, and one leg was crossed over the other. Even sitting down, he radiated the commanding aura of an Alpha.
Did Jake really think throwing a grand wedding would make up for everything?
looked at Philip, my voice cold. “Dad, I told you already–I broke up with Jake. There won’t be any wedding.”
Jake’s POV:
smoothed out my sleeve and stood, unbothered by Deanna’s talk of breaking up.
Ever since that kidnapping incident, she’d been acting this way.
But I wasn’t worried. Once she tried on the top–tier designer gown and that one–of–a–kind Everlove diamond, she’d change her mind.
After this mating ceremony, she would become the most respected Luna across the land.
Deanna’s anger should’ve disappeared.
Moreover, Peggie’s surgery was next week.
Once she recovered, I could spend more time with Deanna. She’d have no reason to keep being jealous.
‘Deanna’s been mad at me lately because I haven’t done enough for her. Today’s ceremonial gown fitting is supposed to be a surprise. It’s my fault for not telling her earlier,” I explained to Philip.
Philip chuckled, his eyes bright. “Alright, go on. You two should try it.”
But Deanna didn’t move. She stood there, face full of resistance.
Philip noticed and pulled a file from his desk. His voice dropped low.
“Deanna, I’ve already had the lawyers prepare the transfer of 30% of the shares to you. But I won’t sign yet. Once you’re Jack’s Luna, I’ll give it to you as part of your dowry.”
Deanna’s eyes widened. “Dad, you promised me that already. You’re an Alpha, how can you go back on your word?”
“I did promise,” Philip said slyly, “but I never said when. Once you’re married, then I’ll hand it over.” He grinned like he had won.
“Alright, now go try on the gown. Take pictures so we can see how beautiful you will look at your ceremony. I heard Jake even asked a famous designer to make your gown this time.”
In the end, Deanna followed me out of the office.

In the parking garage, Deanna walked stiffly, refusing to stand beside me. I couldn’t help but smirk.

“Deanna, I never realized you were this hung up on Mistbane Pack. If you like it that much, once we’re married, I’ll give you 5% of Olson Group’s shares. That’s worth more than those 30% shares of your company. So why don’t you be my Luna? Isn’t that better?”
She rolled her eyes at me. “Jake, why couldn’t you understand my word? Do you think I was joking when I said we were over? I
wasn’t.”
Her cheeks flushed with anger, her eyes lifting at the corners, bright like they held a trace of starlight. Even furious, she was so full of life that it was hard to look away.
I had always known Deanna was beautiful.
At first glance, she was stunning.
But when you met her gaze, you were caught, drawn into those beautiful eyes until you realized her beauty was almost dangerous -like a demoness that left you breathless.
“I never thought you were joking.” I stepped closer, closing the space between us. “Deanna, give me a chance to make things right. This ceremonial gown is proof of that.”
Deanna drew in a deep breath and said calmly, “Jake, I don’t love you anymore.”
I don’t love you.
She said it so quietly, so steadily, like she meant every word.
My eyes narrowed. My expression hardened as if I had just heard something ridiculous.
“Don’t love me? You think I’d believe that?
“You were the one who wouldn’t leave me alone. You were the one who promised you’d love me forever. That’s the only reason I agreed to be with you.”
