Chapter 66 Holding Hands

Chapter 66 Holding Hands

Deanna’s POV:

Luis’s eyes made my cheeks heat up for no reason.

The nervousness I felt on the drive here only grew stronger.

Before I could say anything, a white fluffy blur came racing out of the houseit was Puddy.

He charged at me like a runaway snowball, his little legs moving as fast as they could.

I instinctively reached out to catch him.

Luis’s laidback command cut through the air. Puddy, stop.

The little furball skidded to a halt about a foot from me. His big round eyes shimmered like he might cry, but his tail wagged nonstop.

My heart softened. I bent down and stroked his soft fur. Good boy, Puddy. It’s okay.

Luis strolled over casually, his tone lazy. You’d crush her if you jumped like that. Don’t you know how heavy you are?

Woof, woof!Puddy barked back, as if to argue.

I frowned at Luis. Don’t be mean to him.

Mean?Luis chuckled. Do you even know how heavy you are?

I’m the standard size!I glared at him, annoyed.

He always teased me about being too thin.

Didn’t he realize that at fivefootfive and about 105 pounds, my size is totally normal?

Luis’s sleazy gaze slid slowly over my waist. He leaned close to my ear, voice dropping low. Yeah, pretty standard. Especially when you’re in my arms.

My ears burned at his words.

I started to turn my face away, but before I could, he naturally took my hand.

His palm was big and firm, wrapping completely around mine.

My hand grew sweaty in an instant. I tried to pull away, but he laced his fingers through mine, locking us together.

I’d never held hands with anyone like this before.

It felt so close, so much like a real couple, my heart skipped faster and faster.

Luis glanced down at me, teasing. Hot?”

I shot him a glare.

He was definitely doing this on purpose.

I’m just hungry,I muttered, turning my face aside. But I didn’t pull my hand away again.

Luis gave a low chuckle and kept walking, leading me toward the house. Puddy trotted happily behind us.

When I stepped into the dining room, I froze for a second.

A long rectangular table was set with a hearty meal, everything looking rich and smelling amazing.

I swallowed hard. You made this?

He gave me a teasing look. Didn’t know what you liked, so I just threw something together. But I made plenty of steak this time. You won’t have to fight Puddy for it.

I never fought Puddy!I blurted.

All I did last time was eat a few extra pieces.

Alright, alright, my mistake.Luis laughed as he pulled out a chair for me.

He sat down, without missing a beat, and picked up a plate. With steady hands, he chose several slices of perfectly seared steak and piled them high.

Then he bent down and set the full plate on the floor.

Fluffy little Puddy trotted over, tail wagging, and sat neatly beside us before digging into the meal with happy snorts.

I started eating in silence, sneaking glances at Luis. His long fingers moved with care as he handled a crabcracking tool, patiently working out the meat.

Truth was, I liked crab.

But it was messy, and I didn’t want to look clumsy in front of an alpha like him, so I usually skipped it.

Luis, though, worked with skill. His movements were smooth, elegant, and almost relaxing to watch. Without realizing it, I stared a little too long.

Before I could turn away, he set a small marble plate in front of me.

It was filled with the fresh, delicate crab meat he had just pulled out himself.
