I had just raised my arm when a strong hand suddenly shot out from behind me and clamped down on
my wrist.
Before I could react, that hand yanked hard and tossed me aside without hesitation.
The glass I was holding flew from my grip. The drink splashed all over me, soaking my white dress.
I gasped at the sudden wetness; looking down, I was thoroughly soaked. The fabric was sticking to my skin.
“Who was that?!”
I screamed sharply, ready to hurl an insult.
But when I saw who it was, my bravado vanished.
It was the Alpha of the Mooncrown Pack.
Luis stood tall in front of me, his black dress shirt perfectly fitted and his tailored slacks sharp as ever.
He radiated effortless power and refinement. But his eyes, which were boring into me, were blazing with fury. The weight of his presence made my knees weaken.
I hadn’t met Luis often, but in the werewolf world, everyone knew who he was.
My drunken haze evaporated. I quickly smoothed my hair, forcing myself to look fragile and pitiful, the way men usually liked.
“Mr. Eaton,” I stammered, “why are you here? I–I just had too much to drink. It’s not what you think.”
His gaze was cold as ice. “What do you think I saw?”
“I–I mean, Deanna insulted me first. I was hurt, and I lost control.” I turned toward her with tearful eyes.
“Deanna, I’m sorry. I know you’re jealous of me, and that’s why you said those cruel things. But that’s between us. Let’s keep it private, okay? You can tell me what you want me to do, and I’ll do it.”
This trick had never failed me. Men always caved when I cried. Jake used to fall for this every single time.
Even Deanna looked uneasy now. She quickly rose from her chair and glanced toward Luis.
I shot her a smug look, certain I had the upper hand.
But Luis’s eyes held not a shred of pity. His lips curved into a cold smile. “Haha. Too bad, I’m not Jake. That trick doesn’t work on me.”
His remark hit me like a slap across the face. My cheeks burned instantly.

I hadn’t expected Luis to be so unbending, so hard to sway. Even my best tricks didn’t work on him.
I wanted to keep explaining, but then Luis stepped forward.
He picked up a tissue from the table, gently took Deanna’s hand, and wiped away the water that had just spilled on her.
His expression softened; even that powerful Alpha presence of his seemed to quiet down. His voice was low and tender. “Are you okay?”
Deanna shook her head. “I’m fine.”
The shy look on her face nearly made my eyes pop out of my head.
Luis is so gentle to her?
“You’re lucky that my girlfriend says she’s fine,” Luis said, turning toward me. His gaze went cold. “Otherwise, Ms. Pearson, you wouldn’t be walking out of here tonight.”
I heard the threat in his tone. It made me shiver.
But what shocked me even more was that word–girlfriend.
Mr. Eaton’s… girlfriend?
Deanna?
I could hardly believe it. Maybe I’d misheard.
How could someone like Luis–a pureblood Alpha with such high status–choose Deanna of all people?
What did she have that made her worthy?
Before I could make sense of it, Luis called the restaurant manager over. “Does this place let just anyone in from the street?”
The manager immediately bowed his head. “My apologies, Alpha. I’ll take care of it right away.”
Then he looked straight at me with a hostile look on his face,
“Miss, I’m sorry, but you’ve broken our restaurant’s rules. From this moment on, you are permanently banned from entering here.”
At those words, everyone turned their eyes on me.
My blood ran backward in shame. My whole body wanted to sink into the floor.
I shook my head frantically. “No, it’s not like that.”
But no one listened. Two big security guards grabbed me by the arms and tossed me out.

I scrambled up from the ground, trembling with anger. My hands shook as I pulled out my phone. I quickly sent out the photos I’d secretly taken to Jake.
“Jake,” I typed, my lips pressed tight. “Deanna is cheating on you.”
