88 The More, the Merrier
Deanna’s POV:
By the time we got to Spade A, Violet had already downed half a bottle.
Three empty whiskey glasses sat in front of her, and her cheeks were burning red.
Half–drunk, she kept muttering how all men were scumbags.
I walked over, patting her back gently to calm her down.
I’d known Violet long enough to understand her moods.
She just needed to let it out. By tomorrow, she’d be back on her feet again.
That’s when I heard a familiar voice behind me. “Deanna?”
I turned and saw Terence. He wore a black casual outfit, a surprised smile tugging at his lips.
“You’re here tonight too? My birthday party’s in suite 902. Why don’t you come join us?”
I was ready to say no.
But before I could, Violet stood up, swaying with her glass in hand.
‘Perfect! I’m in a bad mood. Let’s see who can drink with me tonight!”
And just like that, she followed Terence out.
shut my eyes briefly, resigned, then trailed after them.
The moment the suite door opened, deafening music and thick waves of cologne and alcohol spilled out.
Expensive liquor bottles littered the tables, the whole place a mess of noise and luxury.
And in the deepest corner of the couch sat the one man I least wanted to see.
couldn’t make out his expression, but the moment his eyes swept over me, the weight of it pressed down like a storm.
Violet noticed him too. She paused for a second, then gave a cold laugh.
Leaning close to my ear, she whispered, “Don’t be scared. I’m here. He won’t dare lay a hand on you.”
let out a long sigh. With the way she was stumbling around drunk, I wasn’t sure who would be protecting whom tonight.
Robert’s POV:
I was about to kiss the woman beside me. My lips were almost there when I caught movement at the private room door. I stopped
on instinct.
“Hey, isn’t that the famous Ms. Wiley?” someone called out. “Wasn’t she done with Jake? Why is she showing up for Terence’s birthday now? Trying to win Jake back?”

Terence shot me a warning look. “Deanna is my friend. I invited her.”
“Invited?” I almost laughed. I leaned forward and pointed at Deanna.
“Terence, don’t let her fool you. Back when Jake ignored her, she was always asking you about him, pestering you for some intel. Now she’s having second thoughts and trying the same trick–using you to win Jake.”
Right after I said that, the woman behind Deanna stepped forward.
“What’s wrong with your mouth? It smelled awful. Every word you say just pollutes the air. Getting back together? Keep dreaming.”
Trecognized her. She was the actress who’d been all over the tabloids lately. I sneered.
A C–list actress like you should worry about your mess. Your scandals are everywhere. Not sure what kind of man you think you
can attract.”
“You can’t even compare,” she shot back. “I wouldn’t lower myself to someone like you.”
No woman had ever spoke with me like that.
My fists clenched, and I stood up, ready to argue. Then Jake’s voice cut through the room like ice.
“Say another word and get out.”
I looked up. Jake’s brow was tight. His eyes were cold enough to freeze anyone. Clearly, he was mad.
When the Alpha speaks, you listen. I swallowed what I was about to say.
My anger had nowhere to go. I shoved it into the nearest outlet and pinched the woman in my arms hard. She winced. That small sting made me feel a little better.
She was just some actress, anyway. Her chest wasn’t even as big as the woman in my arms.
Terence lifted a bottle and poured a glass.
“It’s my birthday. Let’s keep it civil and have fun.”
Fine. You want some fun, huh?
I pulled out my phone, opened my WhatsApp, and shared my location with Peggie.
