“Good morning, sunshine,” I murmured as I slowly opened my eyes.

Reven was already awake, lying beside me, her head resting on my chest. Her dark hair spread across my arm and her soft breathing told me she had been watching me sleep. When she heard my voice, she lifted her head and smiled.

“Good morning,” she replied softly.

I leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. It felt natural, peaceful, something I once believed I did not deserve. I pulled her closer and inhaled her scent, my heart calm in a way it had not been in years.

“How was your night?” I asked her.
