Reven’s POV
I woke up with a banging headache.

“Ouch!” I cried out, clutching my head as if that alone could stop the pounding inside my skull. It felt like my brain being split into two, sharp pain pulsing behind my eyes, spreading down to my neck.
I rolled over on the bed, groaning softly. Every little movement made it worse. My body felt heavy… weak… like I had drained of every ounce of energy.
“Reven?” Edna’s sleepy voice broke through the haze.
I didn’t answer immediately. I pressed my palm harder against my forehead, squeezing my eyes shut.
“My head…” I muttered weakly. “It hurts so badly.”
There was a sudden rustle beside me as Edna sat up.
“I expected this,” she said, her voice now alert.
I heard the drawer slide open. She shuffled through it for a moment before finally pulling something out.
“Here,” she said, placing a pill in my hand and handing me a glass of water. “Take this.”
Without arguing, I swallowed the pill quickly, desperate for relief. The cool water helped a little, soothing my dry throa
I laid back down, still holding my head, waiting… praying for the pain to ease.
Minutes passed.
Slowly… very slowly… the pounding began to fade. Not completely gone, but bearable enough for me to breathe without wincing.
After about five minutes, I pushed myself up from the bed.
My body still felt off, but at least my head wasn’t splitting anymore.
I sat there quietly… then my eyes drifted to Edna.
She was watching me.
Then I looked down at myself.
I froze.
“This…” I frowned. “This isn’t my nightwear.”
I was wearing completely different clothes.
My heart skipped.
I closed my eyes, trying to remember.

What happened?
Pieces started coming back… slowly… like broken fragments trying to form a picture.
The club.
The loud music.
Lights flashing.
Sophia.
Dancing…
A stranger.
Then
Darkness.
My eyes snapped open.
I turned to Edna immediately.
“Where is Sophia?” I asked quickly. “Who brought me home? What happened?”
Edna sighed deeply before answering.
“Someone brought you home from the club last night,” she said. “You were wasted, Reven.”
I frowned.
“That’s not possible.”
She ignored me and continued.
“According to the person, he found you unconscious… and a guy was trying to force himself on you.”
My breath hitched.
“What?!” I gasped, my hand flying to my mouth. “Oh my goodness…”
A wave of fear washed over me.
That could have
I shook my head, refusing to finish the thought.
“Who brought me home?” I asked again, more urgently this time.
Edna hesitated.
“He wants his identity hidden,” she finally said. “So… I’m sorry, I can’t tell you.”
I stared at her.

“Hidden? Why?”
She shrugged slightly. “I don’t know.”
That didn’t sit right with me.
Not at all.
“I had a lot to drink…” I murmured, trying to make sense of everything.
Edna shook her head.
“I’m not sure it was just the alcohol,” she said seriously. “Someone might have added something to your drink.”
I immediately shook my head.
“No. That’s not possible. I poured my drinks myself.”
Edna leaned forward slightly, her expression firm.
“Think hard, Reven. Did someone hand you a drink?”
I paused,
I wanted to say no again.
But then…
A memory surfaced.
“When we got to the club…” I said slowly, “Sophia went to get drinks for both of us.”
Edna’s expression darkened.
“There,” she said quietly. “That might be it.”
I frowned immediately.
“No, Edna. She can’t do that.”
“Why not?” she asked.

“Because after that drink didn’t sit well with me, I stayed for more than two hours. I kept drinking before I passed out. If she had drugged me, wouldn’t it have worked faster?”
Edna sighed, clearly frustrated.
“I don’t know what to think anymore,” she said. “But what I do know is this: you keep defending this Sophia like you’ve
known her forever.”
I looked at her, confused.
“I’m not defending her.““You barely know her, Reven!” Edna cut in. “Yet you’re so confident about what she can or cannot do.”
Her words stung.

“It’s not like that,” I said quietly. “I’m just saying… what would she gain from drugging me? And then what get someon rape me? That doesn’t make sense.”
Edna stared at me for a moment.
Then she shook her head slowly.
“You’re so naive,” she muttered.
That hit harder than I expected.
“I just hope,” she continued, her voice softer now, “that Sophia doesn’t do something that will leave you trapped… with way out.”
I felt irritation rise in my chest.
“I know what this is,“I said, crossing my arms. “You’re jealous.”
Edna’s head snapped up.
“Jealous?” she repeated.
“Yes,” I said. “You’re jealous because I’ve been spending more time with her than with you.”
The moment the words left my mouth… I regretted them.
Edna went completely still.
The hurt in her eyes was unmistakable.
“Jealous?” she repeated again, this time more quietly.
She let out a soft, bitter laugh.
“What do
you
take me for, Reven?”
“I-”
“I’m just looking out for you,” she said, cutting me off. “But clearly, you don’t need that.”
Silence filled the room.
“So let’s just… stay out of each other’s way,” she added. “We maintain boundaries.”
I blinked.
“Are you chasing me out of your house?” I asked.
“No,” she said firmly. “You can stay. But we keep our distance.”
I nodded slowly, guilt creeping in.
She stood up and began walking toward the kitchen.
Then she paused.

“I thought we both agreed on being best friends,” she said without turning back. “But I didn’t expect you to throw that for someone you barely know.”
And with that, she walked away.
Leaving me speechless.
I sat there for a while, her words replaying in my head.
Then I shook it off and reached for my bag.
It was lying at the other side of the bed.
I grabbed it, pulled out my phone, and quickly dialed Sophia’s number.
It rang.
And rang.
Then she picked up.
“Hi-”
Before I could say anything else, she burst into tears.
“Reven! You’re alive!” she cried. “I was so scared! I hope nothing happened to you. I’m so sorry for leaving you alone. I ca back to look for you, but you were gone!”
Her panic sounded real.
Too real.
“I’m okay, Sophia,” I said gently. “Calm down.”
“I’m so sorry,” she kept repeating.
“It’s fine,” I assured her. “Do you know the guy I danced with last night?”
There was a brief pause.
“No,” she said. “I don’t know him. And when I came back to look for you, he wasn’t there either.”
I exhaled slowly.
“Alright…”
“I’m just glad you’re safe,” she added.
“Yeah… me too,” I said quietly. “Someone saved me. If not… that guy…”
I trailed off.
Sophia gasped.
“What?! Reven, are you okay?”

“I’m fine,” I said quickly. “Really.”
“I’m so sorry,” she said again. “Next time we go out, I’m never leaving your side.”
I smiled faintly.
