Chapter 365
Reven’s POV
Pain had a rhythm.
learned that as the whip fell again.
And again.
And again.
Each strike landed like fire tearing through flesh, my body jerking forward despite my effort to remain still.

My hands were bound above my head, my feet barely touching the ground, forcing my muscles to strain with every breath. Blood slid down my back, warm and sticky, soaking into the floor beneath me.
The Rough King stood before me, calm as ever.
That calm terrified me more than his rage.
“So,” he said lazily, circling me like a predator inspecting wounded prey.
I swallowed hard, forcing my breathing to steady.
I said nothing.
The whip cracked again.
I screamed this time, unable to stop it.
He smiled.
4 has finally grown bold.”
mate
“Answer me,” he ordered. “Or I will continue until your voice breaks completely.”
I lifted my head slowly, meeting his gaze despite the pain blurring my vision. “You told me,” I said hoarsely, “that my mate was dead.”
His smile widened.
“I did.”
Another strike.
My knees buckled, the chains biting deeper into my wrists as I cried out.
“I thought you said that,” I whispered, my voice shaking. “Because you didn’t want him to know I was alive.”
He stopped.
For a moment, the room went unnervingly quiet.
Then he laughed–deep, cruel, and amused.
“Oh, he knows now,” he said. “And he’s paying for it.”
The whip came down harder.
You think kidnapping my sister gives him leverage?” he snarled You think that changes anything?”
Igasped, my body trembling violently.
You want to be free from my hands he continued. “Then tell your mate to release her”
Tlaughed weakly, the sound breaking apart in my throat. “Not file I’m still here,”
His eyes darkened.
“Then you’ll suffer until he learns.”
He raised the whip again and froze.
Heavy footsteps echoed outside the chamber.
A guard burst in, bowing quickly. “My king. The council is here!
The Rough King turned sharply. “Now?”
“Yes, my king. And… they have requested that Reven attend as well.”
Silence fell.
Slowly, the Rough King turned back to me, his eyes narrowing. “What have you done?”
I lifted my head, blood dripping down my chin.
“Nothing,” I said truthfully.
His gaze lingered on me for a long, dangerous moment before he stepped back. “Clean her,” he ordered. “She comes with me.”
The council hall was massive–stone pillars carved with ancient laws, banners hanging heavy with the weight of history. I had never been allowed inside before.
Not like this.
They made me sit.
That alone sent murmurs rippling through the room.
Maids did not sit before the council.
But today, I did.
The Rough King stood tall before them, unbowed, unashamed, dressed in power like armor. His beta stood beside him, silent and watchful.
The head councilor spoke first.
“We are here because of serious accusations.”
The Rough King scoffed. “Accusations from whom?”
“From multiple sources,” another councilor replied. “And confirmed by evidence.”
His eyes flicked briefly to me.

“What evidence!” he demanded.
I stood.
Casps e hoed through the hall.
“My king.” a councilor said sharply, “you will not silence a witn”
I reached into my cloak with trembling fingers and produced the first set of documents.
“These.” I said, my voice steady despite everything, “are records of wolves sold.”
The room erupted.
“Sold?” someone shouted.
“To whom?” another demanded.
“To foreign packs,” I continued. “As labor. As weapons. As slaves.
The Rough King laughed coldly. “Lies.”

I produced another document. “These are names of weak wolves omegas, injured warriors, and younglings declared traitors without trial.”
More murmurs. More outrage.
“And these,” I said, my voice cracking slightly, “are payments.”
I slammed the final parchment onto the stone table.
“Payments for sex slaves.”
The room exploded.
“That’s impossible!”
“No alpha would-”
“Silence!” the head councilor roared.
The Rough King stepped forward. “This is a setup. Forged lies from a bitter maid.”
I met his gaze. “Then explain the seals. Explain the signatures.”
The council examined the documents one by one.
Faces hardened.
Some looked at me with disbelief. Others with dawning horror.
One stood. “I lost a son,” he said quietly. “Declared weak. Disappeared.”
Another followed. “My pack was attacked. We were told it was rogues.”
A third spoke. “My niece vanished.”
Voices rose.

But not all were against him.
This is treason to accuse a king without proof!”
She is ou
maid!”
“She could be lying for her mate!”
The Rough King smiled, confidence returning. “You see? This is aos. And she is the cause.”
I lifted my chin. “I am the proof.”
The council argued long into the night.
Shouting. Accusations. Threats.
Finally, the head councilor raised his staff.
“This council is divided.”
Silence fell.
“Until a final verdict is reached, the Rough King is suspended.”
Gasps.
“The beta will rule temporarily.”
The Rough King’s smile vanished.
“This is not over,” the councilor warned. “The sentence will be decided after further investigation.”
The Rough King’s eyes locked onto mine.
Pure hatred.
I met it calmly.
Because for the first time
He was afraid.
