Reven’s POV
The ride home was peaceful, and I found myself replaying the day in my mind.

The children’s laughter. Their tiny hands clinging to me. The way they called me Mommy as if I had always belonged to them.
I had fallen in love with them far too quickly, dangerously quickly.
Then my mind betrayed me, drifting to something else.
To him.
To the way Alpha Ethan’s voice had softened when he spoke to the children. To the warmth of his hand at my waist. To the
kiss…
Heat rushed to my face.
“Oh God,” I muttered, covering my cheeks. “What is wrong with me?”
How could I let that happen on my very first day of work?
I wasn’t supposed to feel anything for him. He was my employer. A powerful Alpha. Completely out of my league.
And yet…
My lips tingled as if remembering him.
I pressed my fingers against them, mortified.
“Get a grip, Reven,” I whispered to myself.
The car slowed.
“We’re here, ma’am,” the driver said,
I blinked, startled out of my thoughts. “Oh… thank you.”
He hesitated before unlocking the door.
“Your address, please,” he said politely.
I gave it to him, and he frowned slightly as he typed it into the navigation
After a moment, he glanced at me through the rearview mirror
“Why would the Alpha’s wife be living in such a poor neighborhood?”
My spine stiffened.
“I chose to stay there,” I said calmly. “It has nothing to do with Alpha Ethan”
He nodded immediately. “Of course, ma’am,”

Chapter 392
Ten minutes later, we stopped in front of my small apartment building.
The driver stepped out quickly and opened the door for me.
“Thank you,” I said, offering a polite smile as I got down.
The night air was cool. Quiet.
But warm light spilled from my apartment window.
Edna was home.
Relief washed through me.
I hurried to the door and knocked once.
No answer.
I knocked again, harder this time.
Footsteps approached, then Edna’s familiar voice drifted from inside.
‘I’m coming!”
I exhaled, tension leaving my shoulders.
The door swung open, and before I could say anything, Edna pulled me into a tight hug.
‘Oh my God, Reven! Why are you just coming back now? I was so worried!”
‘I’m sorry,” I said, hugging her back. “I should have called.”
She pulled away, scanning my face as if checking for injuries.
You went to Alpha Ethan’s house, didn’t you?”
‘Yes. I had to take care of the kids.”
“Oh! I completely forgot about that,” she said, smacking her forehead lightly. “Come in, come in.”
She dragged me inside and shut the door behind us.
“Sit,” she ordered. “And tell me everything.”
I laughed softly and dropped onto the couch, exhaustion finally settling into my bones.
“They’re wonderful,” I said immediately. “Sweet. Loving Adorable. I didn’t expect to like them this much
Edna’s expression softened. “That’s good. What about the Alphat”
“He was mostly in his study,” I said. “I barely saw him… until I was about to leave.”
Her eyes narrowed suspiciously. “And?”
“And nothing.” I said quickly.

She didn’t look convinced but let it go.
“So, do you like the job?”

I didn’t even have to think.
“Yes. Not because of the money… but because of the kids. I feel… peaceful when I’m around them.”
Edna nodded slowly, then her face turned serious.
“Be careful, Reven.”
My smile faded. “Why?”
“Do you know how many women would kill to be in your position? Living close to the Alpha, caring for his children? Some of them won’t just be jealous; they’ll be dangerous.”
A chill ran down my spine.
“You think someone would hurt me?”
“I think you shouldn’t underestimate people,” she said firmly. “Especially in a pack like his.”
I nodded. “I’ll be careful.”
“Good.”
I stood up. “I’m going to shower. I’m exhausted.”
“Go,” she said. “You look like you’re about to collapse.”
The hot water washed away the tension of the day, but not the thoughts swirling in my head.
The children.
Their missing mother.
Alpha Ethan.
That kiss.
I pressed my forehead against the tile, groaning softly.
“Stop thinking about it.”
After dressing in my nightgown, I climbed into bed, hoping sleep would come quickly
My phone rang.
Unknown number.
I hesitated… then answered.
“Hello?”
“Hey, wifey.”

My heart skipped.
Alpha Ethan.
I couldn’t stop the smile spreading across my face.
“Did you get home safely?” he asked.
“Yes.”
“I called to check on you.”
“Thank you.”
There was a brief pause, then he asked, “Are you free tomorrow by 8 p.m.?”
I should have said I was busy.
I should have made an excuse.
Instead, the word slipped out before I could stop it.
“No.”
“Good,” he said. “You’ll accompany me to a ball.”
My eyes widened. “What?”
“Yes, wifey. You’re going with me.”
“I’ve never attended a ball before,” I admitted nervously. “I don’t know how to behave.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll explain everything when I pick you up.”
“O–okay.”
“Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.”
The call ended, but I kept staring at the phone, smiling like an idiot.
From the doorway, Edna’s voice startled me.
“Are you falling in love?”
I nearly dropped the phone.
“Hell no! I’m just… excited.”
“Mm–hmm,” she said skeptically.
“Nothing will happen between us,” I insisted.
“Sure.”

Chapter 392
I turned off the light and pulled the blanket over myself.
Sleep claimed me almost instantly.
ВЕЕР. ВЕЕР. ВЕЕР.
My alarm dragged me from a deep dream.
“One more minute,” I mumbled, hitting snooze.
Darkness again.
Then suddenly
“Wake up, Reven! You’re late!”
I groaned, squinting at Edna. “Let me sleep.”
“It’s past 8 a.m. You start work at 9!”
I shot upright. “WHAT?!”
Panic exploded through me.

I ran to the bathroom, brushed my teeth at lightning speed, threw on clothes, grabbed my bag, and dashed out without breakfast.
Traffic was a nightmare.
Every red light felt like a personal attack.
By the time I reached work, I was thirty minutes late.
The manager was waiting.
And she was furious.
“Reven, this is unacceptable,”
“I’m so sorry,” I said quickly. “It won’t happen again.”
“It better not,” she snapped. “Or you’ll lose this position.”
“I understand.”
She dismissed me with a wave.
As I headed to change, I caught sight of Sophia at the end of the hallway
She was smiling.
Not kindly.
Cruelly.
I ignored her and went to the locker room.

Chapter 392
Today was going to be hectic. After work, I still had to prepare for the ball.
Strangely… the thought made me happy.
Work dragged on endlessly.
Customers. Deliveries. Complaints. Cleaning.
My feet throbbed, my head ached, and the clock seemed frozen.
Sophia kept appearing near me, whispering to others, watching me with that same cold smile.
Something about it unsettled me.
During my lunch break, I finally sat down, rubbing my sore temples.
“You look exhausted.”
I looked up to see Mark, one of the kinder employees, offering me a bottle of water.
‘Thanks,” I said gratefully.
‘Rough day?”
You have no idea.”
He hesitated. “Be careful around Sophia.”
My stomach tightened. “Why?”
She’s been asking questions about you. A lot of questions.”
What kind?”
Where you live. Who you know. Whether you have family.”
Jnease spread through me like poison.
That’s… strange.”
Just watch your back,” he said quietly before walking away.
The rest of the day passed in a blur of anxiety.
By closing time, I was beyond exhausted.
I stepped outside into the evening air, relieved to finally go home.
The street was quieter than usual.
Too quiet.
A faint unease prickled at the back of my neck.
I started walking toward the bus stop.

We sat in silence for a moment before he spoke.

“I came to the mall to give you your dress, but I was late. The receptionist said you had already left, so I decided to bring it to your house. Then I saw you here.”
‘Oh… I’m so sorry for the trouble,” I said softly.
‘It’s not a big deal,” he replied. “I would do anything for my wife.”
For some reason, I found myself smiling.
He instructed the driver to take me home so I could rest and get ready, promising to return by eight to pick me up himself.
The ride to my house was quiet. I was too nervous to start a conversation, and being close to him made my heart race.
When we arrived, I quickly stepped out of the car. He handed me a bag.
Rest, then get ready. I’ll be here by eight.”
smiled. “Okay.”
turned to leave, but he called my name.
Yes?”
He didn’t say anything at first. Instead, he stepped closer, cupped my face gently, and pressed a quick kiss to my lips.
Bye, wifey,” he murmured. “See you tonight.”
And just like that, he walked back to the car, leaving me standing there stunned, breathless, and suddenly very aware that onight might change everything.
