Chapter 97 Sweet Chat

Adrian spoke weakly. “Commander, my hearing is still fuzzy.”

Lucian sat stone-faced and said nothing.

Merrick’s gaze swept over his subordinates.

They were not faking their discomfort, yet all looked utterly drained.

He teased casually. “Lucian, your face is so stiff that you look like you’ll never find a partner. Keep this up, and you’ll never win Captain Reed over.”

Lucian kicked the leg of Merrick’s chair hard. Merrick darted out of the way instantly, leaving the chair crushed with a huge dent.

“How ruthless!”

Lucian said coldly. “Black Rick, I need to file a damage report. My footwear is broken.”

Merrick clicked his tongue inwardly. This sly fox had aimed a lethal kick at him.

He was so petty and aggressive. No wonder he could not win a partner.

He brushed a stray lock of smooth hair back, then coughed softly at his dizzy, disoriented subordinates. “Head straight for the Grayson residence. We will make them pay for all damages.”

“Yes, Commander.”

The moment they heard they were going to fight, Number Two and Number Three instantly recovered. Their dizziness and hearing fog vanished completely. They steered the warship toward the Grayson residence at full speed.

Lucian sat down beside Merrick and sent over a damage reimbursement form.

“Approve this.”

Right then, a new message popped up on Merrick’s wrist terminal from Sylas.

Merrick paused. “It’s updates on Gillian and Captain Reed.”

At the mention of Freya, Lucian immediately fell quiet.

After reading Sylas’s message, a faint twinge of sourness stirred in Merrick’s heart. Gillian had not cared to ask about him at all. She had not mentioned his name even once.

He skimmed over Freya’s health report sent by Sylas, raised an eyebrow, and tossed the file to Lucian.

“Reimbursement approved.”

Merrick snickered to himself. This single fox was always in a bad mood from being unable to court his

partner.

He made a mental note to deduct Lucian’s bonus for damaging public property, feeling quite pleased at the thought.

Yet a question puzzled him. Why had Sylas only sent Freya’s report?

Where was Gillian’s health file?

“Sylas, by order of the commander, retrieve Gillian’s full health report immediately.”

“Understood.”

Minutes later, a new message popped up from Gillian.

There was no text, only a single health report file.

Merrick grumbled inwardly at her playful coldness.

He quickly opened the file and studied every data entry carefully. He was stunned to find Gillian’s primal core had already reached level 4.

He stroked the white griffin in his palm gently. The White Griffin System had three security passcodes. The first was his own blood essence, the second was Gillian’s primal core energy, and the third remained a string of unknown, garbled code.

A sudden thought crossed his mind. Could the third passcode belong to their unborn children?

Soon after, Gillian sent another message, only an image.

Merrick smiled softly.

She kept sending pictures instead of words. This was her subtle way of acting coquettish.

He decided to indulge her and examine the image closely.

The intricate, mysterious patterns in the image latched onto his gaze instantly.

A powerful force surged out of the picture and pressed down heavily on him.

After breaking free from the pattern’s restraint, his whole body burned with warmth. His long-stagnant primal core finally showed signs of loosening, ready for advancement.

“This pattern is extraordinary.”

The male’s voice carried obvious delight and satisfaction.

The next message from Gillian made his brows lift in amusement.

“Commander Cole, when will you be back?”

“Call me honey, and I’ll reply. Commander Cole is otherwise occupied for now.”

Gillian fell speechless.

Merrick’s playful, odd behavior made her doubt if she was really messaging the right person.

“Merrick, when will you be back?” He was determined to kiss her several times when he got back, to teach her not to be so stubborn anymore.
