Me And My Billionaire Husband
Chapter 106
:
Elowen stepped forward, remarking, “Heath, Aurora seems to know a lot about racing. She knew Zane was going to lose just from his second turn.”
Just then, Zane walked over, overhearing the comment. “Who said I was going to lose on the second turn?”
Aurora frowned, thinking, “Is Elowen just like those Pendleton sisters, always stirring up trouble?”
Alaric, trying to defuse the situation, said, “It’s nothing, just some casual chat.”
Zane, still fuming from his loss, snapped, “Casual chat? Who’s casually saying I’d lose?”
Aurora stepped up, admitting, “I did.”
Zane looked at her dismissively, “What would a young lady like you know about racing? On what basis did you say I’d lose?”
Aurora replied with a smirk, “I noticed your car’s left tire is old, while the right one is new. You took the turn too sharply and too early, losing speed.”
Alaric facepalmed, thinking, “Oh no, Zane’s going to explode!”
As expected, Zane’s face turned beet red with anger. “You’re just a young girl, all talk and no action. If you’re so confident, race against me. Let’s see how you do!”
Heath frowned, “Zane, that’s enough.”
Zane, still defiant, retorted, “I’m not being unreasonable. It’s just a race. If I can’t beat you, how can I lose to a girl?”
Elowen, trying to keep the peace, said, “Come on, Heath. It’s Aurora’s first time here. Let her have some fun. Zane, just go easy on her.”
Zane shot her a cold look, “Mind your own business.”
Aurora couldn’t help but smile inwardly, noticing Zane’s clear dislike for Elowen.
Alaric scolded, “Zane, don’t talk to Elowen like that!”
Elowen gently tugged at Alaric’s arm, “It’s okay, Zane’s just being young.”
Zane scoffed, “So, are you up for the challenge or not?”
Aurora replied, “Sure, but what happens if you lose?”
Zane laughed, “Lose? In your dreams!”
The surrounding crowd chuckled. After all, Zane’s racing skills were second only to Heath’s. How could he possibly lose?
Aurora continued, “Every race should have stakes. Otherwise, what’s the point?”

Zane, growing impatient, said, “Fine, if I lose, you can do whatever you want with me. But if you lose, you’ll run around the track shouting ‘I was wrong.”
Aurora nodded, “Deal.”
Heath tried to intervene, “Aurora, don’t do this.”
Aurora smiled, “I’m just trying it out. At worst, I’ll just embarrass you.”
Heath, unable to convince her otherwise, had a stable car brought over. He advised, “Don’t chase speed. If you lose, it’s okay. I’ll find another actor for you.”
Aurora smiled and nodded, then got into the race car.
The track was cleared, with only two cars at the starting line: Zane’s black car and Aurora’s red one.
She adjusted her seat, put on her helmet, and fastened her seatbelt. As she prepared to start, Heath watched from the sidelines with a stern face, while Alaric looked like he was freezing from the tension.
A gunshot signaled the start, and the two cars shot off like arrows. Even Alaric was taken aback, “Heath, didn’t you say Aurora doesn’t even have a driver’s license?”
Heath frowned, thinking that at this speed, someone inexperienced would surely crash.
Yet, at the first bend, Aurora took the turn perfectly, leading Zane by a car’s length. Zane’s black racer was hot on her tail, looking like he’d overtake her any second.
But as they approached the second bend, Aurora still maintained her lead. Zane gritted his teeth, frustrated. He was so close, yet couldn’t catch up.
By the time Eamon Ironside approached, Heath was completely engrossed in watching Aurora’s car. Alaric greeted Eamon, but Heath didn’t even turn his head.
At the final bend, Zane accelerated fiercely, looking like he’d crash into Aurora’s car. He couldn’t stand the idea of losing to a girl, especially in front of so many people.
It’s just a small crash, he thought. It won’t be a big deal.
But Aurora seemed to have anticipated this. She turned and accelerated precisely, brushing past Zane’s car and zooming ahead. Her red car blazed across the track like a streak of flame, crossing the finish line.
Aurora got out of her car and inspected it. There was a large scratch, but thankfully, it hadn’t flipped.
Zane stepped out, visibly agitated. Aurora, in her casual attire, took off her helmet and held it under her arm. Her hair fluttered in the wind as she confidently declared, “You lost.”
Zane stormed up to her, throwing his helmet on the ground with a loud clang. Everyone thought he was about to get physical. Even Heath moved closer to Aurora, ready to protect her.
Aurora smirked, looking straight at him. Zane, frustrated, kicked his helmet, admitting, “You’re better. I lost fair and square.”

Aurora turned to Heath, beaming, “Heath, I won!”
Heath nodded, his expression unreadable. Eamon approached, giving Aurora a once–over, “Aurora, you drive like a pro.”
Aurora was taken aback. When did Eamon arrive?
She looked back at Heath, who remained expressionless. But Aurora knew she had displayed skills beyond her usual capabilities.
Until she was eighteen, Aurora had been mentally unclear. After that, she was just a top student. She could change her personality, physique, or intelligence, but she shouldn’t know how to race.
Eamon, staring intently, asked, “Have you raced before?”
Before Aurora could answer, Heath intervened, “Enough, Eamon.”
Eamon shot Aurora one last probing look, but she turned her attention to Heath. “Let’s go,” Heath suggested.
As Aurora followed Heath out of the racetrack, Elowen watched their retreating figures, commenting, “Heath doesn’t seem too pleased,
does he?”

Alaric remained silent, sensing that Eamon held some inexplicable animosity towards Aurora. Every time Eamon appeared, the dynamics between Aurora and Heath seemed to shift dramatically.
In the car, Aurora cautiously glanced at Heath, who was focused on driving. He called, “Rory.”
She jolted, “Yes?”
“Eamon means no harm,” Heath assured.
Aurora nodded, “I know.”
I know he doesn’t mean harm. He’s just suspicious of my intentions around you.
But what about you?
Even Eamon noticed my oddities. What about you?
Aurora didn’t dare ask, nor did she want to.
Yet, as if sensing her thoughts, Heath said, “I’ve told you before, as long as you’re honest, I’ll wait for you.”
Aurora lowered her head, whispering, “Okay.”
