“Fine, fine, I’ll drive you later. Drink less!” she said.

“Deal,” Heath agreed.

“Get up, you’re hurting my shoulder,” Aurora pushed at him.

Heath looked up but didn’t let go, his voice low, “I’m tired. Just let me hold you for a bit.”

Aurora was speechless.

Was she just a doll for Heath to pick up whenever he felt like it?

Cheryl was cornered by Sophia at the sink, not allowed to leave. Cheryl crossed her arms and challenged, “What do you want?”

Sophia was blunt, “Simple. Quit showbiz, stay away from the capital, and stop being a pain in my neck!”

Cheryl laughed, “Are you for real? You think you own the capital or the entertainment industry? Why should I quit just because you say

SO?”

Sophia jabbed a finger at Cheryl, “Who do you think you are? I could handle you back in school, and I can handle you now here!”

Cheryl was ready to throw down, imagining tomorrow’s headlines about the new starlet caught in a brawl. Poor Aurora would have to clean up the mess.

The restroom door was kicked open with a bang, startling both Sophia and Cheryl. They turned to see Zane swaggering in.

He didn’t care that it was the ladies‘ room. He stepped in front of Cheryl and faced Sophia, “Who are you trying to handle?”

Zane might be young, but his six–foot frame was intimidating. Sophia shrank back but still retorted, “What’s it to you? What is Cheryl to you?”

Zane’s tone was even more aggressive, his presence domineering. He wasn’t scared of anyone.

“Cheryl’s under my protection. Try touching her and see what happens,” Zane glared at her.

“Oh, Cheryl, I had no idea,” Sophia sneered. “Hooked up with a sugar daddy so fast? Even the young heir of the Strider family is in your pocket. You’re quite the operator!”

Cheryl snapped, “Shut your mouth with the nonsense!”

Sophia shot Zane a look, “Do you even know what kind of person Cheryl is? Her rep in high school was trash!”

Zane just laughed it off, “And you think you’re any better? I’ve got her back, and it’s none of your business. Try to mess with her again, and I’ll make sure you’re out of the capital by tomorrow!”

zane grabbed Cheryl and they left, leaving Sophia seething with a face like thunder. She wouldn’t dare to openly provoke Zane; everyone in the scene knew how wild he could be.

But Zane had the clout to back it up.

The Strider family was Heath’s maternal home, and the Strider brothers, Including Zane, were Heath’s cousins. Tied to the Fairbanks, who would dare to mess with them?

When Zane said he could kick her out of the capital, he wasn’t just talking big.

Sophia clenched her dress, fuming. Why should Cheryl, of all people, get to climb up the Strider family tree?

She was all sweet and compliant to Ethan, who was too busy with his career to even spend time with her, let alone defend her.

Just thinking about Zane’s smug face made Sophia’s blood boil.

As Zane pulled Cheryl along, he scolded her, “Are you dumb? She insults you and you just take it? Why didn’t you slap her? Where’s that fire you use on me?”

Cheryl was speechless.

She was about to fight back, wasn’t she? But Zane had kicked the door down before she got the chance.

Daxton followed, saying, “Sophia’s way out of line. You okay, Cheryl?”

Cheryl shook her head, “I’m fine. It’s not like we fought.”

“You wanted to fight? Are you even a lady? It’s all that Aurora’s influence, always ready to throw down!” Zane was fuming.

“What’s it got to do with Aurora? If you’ve got a problem, take it up with me!” Cheryl shot back.

Zane was livid, “I save you and this is the thanks I get? My first time in a ladies‘ room and it’s to rescue you!”

“Did I ask to be saved? Who asked you to come!” Cheryl argued.

“Enough, both of you. Don’t make a scene,” Daxton tried to calm things down.

“You think I want to argue with her? She’s impossible!” Zane stormed back into the private room, only to find Aurora being held against the wall by Heath.
