Chapter 134
Aurora watched as Carly walked to the door, followed closely by Jasper as they left the hall, presumably to scout the surroundings.
Just as she turned around, Heath had come down and walked briskly to her side upon seeing her. Aurora felt a bit nervous, clutching her purse, hoping Heath wouldn’t notice.
How are you? Tired? Heath asked.
Aurora shook her head: “I’m okay.”
As music played timely, couples entered the dance floor to dance. Heath extended his hand with a slight smile, “May I have the honor of this dance, Miss?”
Aurora smiled, picked up her skirt slightly, and curtsied, placing her hand in Heath’s palm: “It would be my honor.”
He led her to the dance floor, moving to the soft music. Her unexpectedly professional dancing surprised him, “Have you learned dancing before?
“Uh… my grandfather had someone teach me,” Aurora made up an excuse to get by. The etiquette of these social events was a course she had to learn in the Abyss, or else she would be punished.
Heath, dancing with her, said in a low voice, “Don’t take Eamon’s words to heart.”
Aurora nodded, “He doesn’t seem to like me.”
Heath laughed, “He doesn’t need to.”
Her face reddened, and she stepped on Heath’s foot by mistake, to which he laughed lowly, “Is this revenge?”
Aurora pouted, “I wouldn’t stoop to such simple methods for revenge.”
When she takes revenge on someone, she makes sure it’s thorough, leaving no room for future trouble.
Like with Isabella Whitmore.
One day, she would remind her of everything she had done to her.
After a dance, as Heath led her out of the dance floor, a middle–aged man with graying hair greeted them: ‘Mr. Heath Fairbank, I was looking for you here!”
Heath turned to greet him, ‘Mr. Whitmore was looking for me?”
Aurora glanced at the man, who had a kind face but an intimidating aura that involuntarily inspired fear. This was Isabella Whitmore’s father, Thursto Whitmore,
“I was just finishing a conversation with you and naturally wanted to continue, not expecting you were in a hurry to accompany a lady!” Thursto looked at Aurora with a friendly smile.

Aurora realized then that Heath had gone upstairs to discuss business with Thursto
She smiled briefly at Thursto as a greeting.
Thursto asked, ‘Miss, may I ask your name?”
Good to meet you, Mr. Whitmore. My name is Aurora Pendleton, Aurora introduced herself briefly.
Perhaps because she was by Heath’s side, Thursto showed no displeasure, Miss Pendleton, good to meet you.”
“Mr. Whitmore, Eamon is more familiar with the business in America; you can talk to him directly,” Heath tactfully declined further discussion.
Of course, but it’s rare to see you, I still want to introduce a few friends to you,” Thursto said with a smile.
As he finished speaking, a crisp voice called from behind him, “Daddy!”
Thursto turned to pull Isabella to his side, introducing her to Heath, “This is my daughter Isabella Whitmore, Bella, this is Mr. Heath Fairbank of Fairbank Corporation, and this is Miss Aurora Pendleton.”
Isabella greeted them both graciously.
Heath nodded in greeting, and Aurora remained silent, her expression stiff.
It took immense self–control for her to stand there and make eye contact with Isabella.
This woman had ended her life with her own hands!
She both hated and feared her.
Who wouldn’t fear someone who had tormented them to the point of ruin?
She often woke from nightmares, unable to control her trembling, her heart constricting in pain.
She thought that once she had her revenge, once Isabella was dead, it would all be over.
She had a gun in her purse that belonged to Carly; she just needed to shoot Isabella in the heart, and everything would end.
Then, Isabella raised her hand, waving behind Aurora and Heath, “Dominic!”
Aurora’s mind exploded as if a nuclear bomb had gone off inside her, shattering her numbness.
She became dizzy, her ears buzzing, and the only thing echoing in her head was Isabella’s pleasant call for “Dominic.”
They all knew only one Dominic – Dominic Ashcroft.
The president of Abyss Group, the boss of the underground organization, the man who had been with her for over a decade, Isabella’s
fiancé.

The man in the dark blue suit, his handsome, mixed–race features more pronounced, almost as tall as Heath, stood beside Isabella, smiling indulgently, “Sorry, I’m late.”
Thursto introduced him again, ‘Dominic, this is Mr. Heath Fairbank of Fairbank Corporation, and Mr. Dominic Ashcroft, president of Abyss Group, and Bella’s fiancé.”
Heath paused at the name Dominic, a name familiar, but from where?
Turning to Aurora, he saw her standing frozen, like a lifeless doll, staring at the man named Dominic.
Heath suddenly remembered the first time he saw Aurora drunk in a bar, how he took her back to the hotel.
She cried with a knife in hand, saying her tendons were cut, her face scarred, her heart shot through.
She clung to his clothes, insisting she was not a traitor, expressing her devoted love and shared dangers.
In the end, she cried out, “Dominic, I’m so scared.”
Heath didn’t understand why he remembered everything so clearly from that day, why every word Aurora said stuck in his mind.
That night, the deep affection and dependence in her call for “Dominic” tugged at his heart. Later, he investigated her past but found no one named Dominic. He thought Aurora was just babbling drunk.
But now, there was a man standing in front of him, greeting him politely, saying, “Mr. Heath Fairbank, I’ve heard a lot about you, I’m
Dominic Ashcroft.”
Heath extended his hand in response, gripping a little tighter as he introduced himself, “Heath Fairbank.”
Dominic withdrew his hand, looking at Aurora beside Heath, asking, “And this is?”
Isabella, arm–in–arm with Dominic, introduced with a smile, “This is Mr. Fairbank’s companion, Miss Aurora Pendleton.”
Dominic extended his hand for a kiss, but Aurora hesitated to place her hand in his, and Dominic didn’t take offense, simply lowering his hand with a polite smile, “Miss Aurora, nice to meet you.”
Aurora still didn’t speak, feeling like a conscious plant, standing still, her fingers tightly clutching her purse until her fingertips turned white. She stared unblinkingly at Dominic and Isabella.
What a well–matched pair they were, a handsome man and a beautiful woman, likely to marry soon, weren’t they?
Yet if Dominic had already made his decision, why did he bother with her?
Countless midnight reveries, she saw Dominic by her side, teaching her to shoot, sparring with her, walking together, welcoming her triumphant returns. He caressed her hair with a smile as tender as the Los Angeles evening sun, saying, “Olivia, you’ve done well.”
Day by day, his company led her to sink deeper; she wanted to perform even better to earn his approval and praise, to stand by his side rightfully at the pinnacle.
Dominic had promised her a future with her own name, identity, to be with him forever.
