Chapter 136

Crouched low, Carly sprinted towards the gunfire, while Aurora circled the house to find a large tree. She bent down, hitched up her skirt, and climbed up, adjusting her sniper rifle to find the right position among the branches.
Loading, aiming, calculating wind speed, she fine–tuned her scope. The moment her eye met the scope, the green crosshairs filling her vision, she felt like a warrior returning to the battlefield, sword in hand.
By now, most of the guests had left. Through her night–vision scope, the red halos that appeared were those engaged in the firefight.
Aurora’s gaze followed Carly, who, to avoid stray bullets, had to advance quickly, bent at the waist. Circling the bushes around the house, Carly took advantage of the distraction provided by the gunfire and slipped into the underbrush.
A hand slowly emerged from the bushes, waving in the night. Aurora knew Carly had joined up with Jasper.
But the gunfire around them was intensifying. Carly and Jasper could barely sneak out of the bushes, crouching low as they moved forward. Hidden behind a tree inches ahead was a bodyguard.
Aurora fired, hitting her target. The man fell, revealing half his body behind the tree. Carly, taken aback, laughed, ‘She’s really got a talent?
Thanks to the silencer Carly had thoughtfully attached to the rifle, Aurora’s presence went unnoticed amid the chaos.
Aurora covered Jasper and Carly as they ran to the outskirts, identifying Heath and Luca’s positions.
Once she ensured their safety, she took out a few of Luca’s bodyguards, aiming to lighten Heath’s load.
When a bodyguard fell near Heath, he was startled and asked Eamon, “A sniper?”
Lamon shook his head. “No, the Whedon Manor isn’t our turf; we couldn’t arrange a sniper in advance.”
But Heath clearly saw the man was shot from another direction. If not a sniper, then what?
“Could it be another party’s sniper? Heath, clutching his bleeding shoulder, grew paler.
Eamon again shook his head. Unlikely. The other party hasn’t made a move in a while. It’s mainly us against Luca’s men. They might have

Heath bent to check his wound, perhaps he was mistakes
Lamon asked, “You play?
Heath, with a pained smile, nodded. “If this doesn’t rod soon, I might die from bised buss.”
Lamon glanced at his watch We’ve been fighting so long. the police make alsted by now.”
As he spoke, the piercing sound of pudice sites filled the air, and several police sans entered the manor. Loudspeakers blared stop, and Luce’s side quickly fell silent, shouts of “Cop, runt occasionally breaking through.

Chapter 136
:
Eamon signaled his men to withdraw, pulling Heath towards the back door. Suddenly, a bald thug stood up, gun aimed at Heath.
Kieran ran shouting, “Get down!”
Heath and Eamon turned, a gun barrel aimed straight at Heath’s chest. Eamon raised his gun, but the bald man had already pulled the
trigger.
At the critical moment, the bald man’s body shuddered, a blossom of blood appearing on his forehead. Eamon’s gun fired, hitting his chest. The man fell stiffly.
Clearly, the chest shot was Eamon’s, but the shot to the forehead had saved Heath. Otherwise, the bald man would have shot him.
Kieran checked the bald man and reported, “It’s Luca’s.”
Heath and Eamon looked towards where the bullet came from, catching a glimpse of a figure jumping down from the branches.
Eamon frowned, “There really was a sniper.”
Heath nodded, his face pale, his consciousness blurring from blood loss.
Eamon and Kieran helped him into the car. Heath, grasping Kieran, asked, “Where’s Aurora?”
Kieran, head bowed, replied, “Sir, we’ll find her.”
Eamon knocked Heath out with a chop to the neck. “Kieran, drive back to the hotel!”

On the way, Eamon and Kieran carried Heath to his room. Lysander rushed up, “How’s Heath?”
Eamon laid him on the bed, “Shot in the shoulder, just a hasty treatment.”
Lysander approached with a first–aid kit, while Eamon pulled Kieran aside, “Did you find Aurora?”
Kieran shook his head, “No, we searched everywhere, no sign of her.”
Eamon patted his shoulder, “It’s okay. At least she’s not in the firefight. Maybe she left the manor. We’ll search again once things calm
down.‘
Kieran nodded, “That’s all we can do. The Boss will panic if he wakes up and finds out she’s missing.”
After Jasper and Carly emerged, Aurora joined them, rifle in tow. Carly exclaimed in surprise, “Didn’t expect you to be so accurate!”
Aurora responded quietly, hinting she could be even more precise.
Jasper, clutching his arm, chuckled, “Thanks for saving us.”
Aurora pointed to his arm, asking, “What happened to your arm?”

Chapter 136
Jasper shook his head, ‘It’s nothing, just grazed by a stray bullet.”
Aurora walked over for a quick look and said, ‘Doesn’t seem to be any bullet inside. Let’s find a place to clean and bandage it.”
Carly nodded, ‘We’re staying at a small hotel. Let’s go.”
Aurora followed them into the car and to their lodging, where she helped clean and treat Jasper’s wound.
Jasper smiled, ‘Aurora, you’re quite capable.”
Aurora shrugged, “Olivia taught me.”
The chaotic night finally passed, leaving the trio exhausted. After tending to everything, they went to sleep.
Aurora was content. Tonight, she had returned to the battlefield, to her past.
Tomorrow she’d think about how to explain her whereabouts to Heath. For now, she just wanted to rest.
The next day, Heath woke up in the afternoon.
Hearing him stir, Lysander and Kieran rushed to his room, relieved to find him awake.
Heath asked about Eamon.
Kieran replied, “Eamon went to deal with the aftermath. He left in the morning and won’t be back till evening.”
Lysander checked his wound, “Don’t move. A gunshot and blood loss aren’t minor.”
Heath, surprised, asked about Aurora.
Kieran, glancing at Lysander, apologized, “Sorry, Sir. We only found her high heels, not her. Eamon has sent more people to search.”
Heath, face darkening, tried to get up, aggravating his shoulder wound. Lysander rushed to stop him, “Heath! Aurora just got separated; she’ll be fine! Besides, Eamon has sent people to search.”
Kieran added, “Boss, I’ll go look myself. She’ll be okay!”
Heath, in a fit of rage, knocked over a table, demanding, “Find her! Even if it means turning the city upside down!”
