Me And My Billionaire Husband

Chapter 138

Boss! Boss!Kieran shouted, rushing to Heath’s side.

Hearing the commotion, Aurora ran out of her room. Seeing Heath on the floor with a bloodied shoulder, she hurried to help Kieran carry him to his room.

After Kieran left to call Lysander, Aurora skillfully disinfected and bandaged Heath’s wound.

When Kieran returned, he found Aurora almost done with the cleanup.

Miss AuroraKieran began, curious about her emergency medical skills.

Where’s Lysander? How soon can he get here? I only managed to stop the bleeding, but Heath’s wound looks infected, and he’s feverish. Didn’t you notice?Aurora asked, packing up the medical kit.

A fever? He seemed okay when he woke up this afternoonKieran said, puzzled.

With such a serious injury, a fever is normal. Why wasn’t someone with him?Aurora asked, her voice filled with concern and reproach, as Heath lay still, his brow furrowed in pain.

Miss Aurora, when the boss woke up, he sent us all to find you and insisted on being aloneKieran explained.

Aurora paused while searching through the medical kit and asked, What about Lysander Fane?

He and Eamon are on this floor. They’ll be here quickly,Kieran assured her.

As Kieran finished speaking, the doorbell rang. He opened the door to find Lysander with a medical kit, followed by Eamon, who immediately asked, What happened? Why did he faint?

Seeing Aurora in the room, Lysander was surprised. Aurora? You’re back? Are you hurt?

Aurora shook her head. I’m fine. Let’s check on Heath.

Lysander nodded and approached Heath’s bedside. Seeing the neatly dressed wound, he asked in surprise, Kieran, did you do this?

Hesitating, Kieran shook his head. No, it was Miss Aurora.

Lysander turned to Aurora with a smile. Nice job, Aurora.

Aurora rolled her eyes. Just treat him.

Lysander examined Heath, noting the reopened and inflamed wound and his fever. He suggested starting an IV for the infection and taking feverreducing medication.

Worried, Aurora asked, When will he wake up?

It depends on his recovery, but given his constitution, he should be up by tomorrow,Lysander said.

Chapter 138

After administering the IV and medication, the group left the room.

Eamon turned to Aurora. Miss Aurora, where were you last night?

With Heath’s condition weighing on her mind, Aurora replied irritably, Nowhere special, just got separated, that’s all.

Separated for a whole day and night? Kieran said you just got back tonight,Eamon pressed, his gaze sharp.

Facing him defiantly, Aurora said, Yes, I was separated for a day and night. Any problem with that, Eamon?

Eamon’s expression hardened. Miss Aurora, please tell the truth. Where were you during this time?

Clenching her fists, Aurora retorted, I told you, I just got separated!

Lysander intervened, pulling Eamon aside. Eamon, what are you doing? Aurora’s not bad. She just got lost.

Why won’t she clarify her whereabouts yesterday? If she’s innocent, why did it take her a day and night to return?Eamon argued.

Lysander turned to Aurora. Just tell us where you were, Aurora. Don’t let Eamon misunderstand you.

Aurora laughed bitterly. Why should I explain? Heath doesn’t question me, so why should Eamon? Misunderstand me all you want. I

don’t care!

Lysander looked helpless, about to persuade Eamon to stop, when suddenly Eamon pulled out a gun, aiming it at Aurora’s forehead!

Eamon coldly demanded, We were attacked last night, and then you disappeared. If you can’t explain, you can’t escape suspicion!

Shocked, Lysander tried to pull Eamon away. Eamon! What are you doing? She’s just a girl!

Kieran stepped in front of Aurora, pleading, Eamon, let’s wait until the boss wakes up. Hurting Miss Aurora will have consequences!

As the tension mounted, Aurora calmly said, Kieran, step aside.

Kieran looked at Aurora and insisted, Miss Aurora, I won’t let anyone hurt you until the boss wakes up!

If she’s a spy, Heath will be the first to suffer,Eamon stated sternly.

Hesitating for a moment, Kieran moved closer to Aurora, still warily watching Eamon, fearful he might actually pull the trigger.

Aurora looked straight into Eamon’s eyes and declared, First, I am not a spy; and second, I will never harm Heath.

Why should I believe you?Eamon challenged her.

Aurora smiled. You don’t have to believe me. It’s enough that Heath trusts me. He believes I wouldn’t harm him, and that’s why I’m allowed to stay. If he didn’t trust me, he would have dealt with me himself. You know him better than I do.

Eamon knew Heath’s decisiveness and ruthlessness. There would be no hesitation from Heath, which had been crucial in building the Fairbank family’s power and influence.

Yet, when it came to Aurora, Eamon always harbored doubts.

Aurora seemed simple, yet on closer inspection, she was complex. Her background was spotless, but her astuteness was too significant to

ignore.

Slowly, Aurora reached out and grasped the barrel of Eamon’s gun.

Lysander and Kieran, startled, shouted at her.

Aurora!

Tilting her head, Aurora looked at Eamon and smiled. Eamon, you don’t want to kill me. There’s no need to scare me. Your gun isn’t even loaded.

Eamon was momentarily taken aback. Indeed, he hadn’t loaded the gun; his intent was only to intimidate Aurora, but she had fearlessly noticed its unloaded state.

Eamon holstered his gun, and Aurora sighed, I know you don’t trust me, but you should put away your suspicions while Heath is here. Otherwise, it will be difficult for him.

Eamon remained silent as Aurora turned and entered Heath’s room to check on his IV.

Lysander patted Eamon’s shoulder, saying, Embarrassed, aren’t you? Why bother?

Eamon shot him a look. Can’t you see there’s something off about her?

Lysander shook his head. I don’t see it. She seems like a typical teenage student, nothing amiss. What’s wrong?

Frustrated, Eamon walked into the living room and sat on the sofa. He couldn’t pinpoint the issue with Aurora. She was that kind of person nothing outwardly seemed wrong, but his instincts told him there was definitely something.
