Me And My Billionaire Husband (Aurora and Heath) novel Chapter 140

Chapter 140

As Heath emerged from his room, clad in a bathrobe, Aurora was nowhere in sight. Recalling the blush that had painted her face just moments ago, he couldn’t help but smile.

The door opened once again, and Aurora entered, carrying a tray of food. She set it on the table, her head bowed, then swiftly closed the door with a bang and dashed away.

Heath:

On the tray was a bowl of porridge accompanied by several small dishes. It must have been Lysander’s doing, advising a light diet, which led to these hotelprepared meals.

Struggling with just one hand, Heath reached for a spoon and began to eat on the bed. As he did so, the door burst open again.

Aurora strode in, sat beside him on the bed, and took up the porridge. She stirred it carefully, then blew on it gently before bringing it to his lips.

Heath chuckled, You’re feeding me?

Aurora glared at him, Eat it or don’t!

He nodded, I’ll eat.

She fed him spoonful by spoonful. Heath obediently sat, watching her with a smile in his eyes as she meticulously picked out dishes and ladled porridge.

Heath, Aurora called him.

Hmm?

I won’t ask why you were shot, and let’s not question each other, okay?Aurora suggested, her head down as she picked out dishes, her gesture signaling a truce.

Heath gazed at her, the girl’s head bowed, stirring the porridge over and over, her inner turmoil evident.

Do you like Dominic Ashcroft?Heath suddenly asked.

Aurora paused, stirring the porridge, and replied, No, I don’t.

Don’t lie to me, Rory,Heath insisted, focusing on her small hands stirring the porridge.

I’m not lying,Aurora lifted her head, looking directly into Heath’s eyes, I don’t like him.

How could she? Dominic Ashcroft had woven a beautiful future for her, only to push her into a chasm of despair. Her unease stemmed from the betrayal and abandonment by the one she trusted the most. This fear kept her cautiously by Heath’s side, not daring to let her

heart wander.

Her eyes were as clear as the azure sky. She had said she wouldn’t lie, and she meant it.

For Heath, regardless of who Aurora was, who she worked for, whether she was a spy or a threat, those things didn’t matter. He just wanted to know who truly occupied her heart.

Rory, Heath called her.

Yes?

I can accept that I’m not in your heart,Heath said calmly, as if he had always known that winning a place in her heart would be a challenging journey.

Aurora averted her gaze, silent. She didn’t know if he was in her heart, or maybe she was afraid to admit that he was.

But if I find that you’re here with me, yet your heart belongs to someone else, I will make sure their end is not a pretty one,Heath’s tone remained calm, as if he was merely commenting on the pleasant weather, yet he effortlessly decided someone’s fate.

He was telling Aurora not to lie, not to deceive him, and not to let anyone else reside in her heart.

Aurora, with her head lowered, acknowledged with a Hmm, continuing to stir the porridge. When she brought the spoon to Heath’s mouth, he asked, When will you be honest with me?

Aurora shook her head, I don’t know.

One year, Rory. In one year, I want the truth,Heath declared.

His tone was firm, leaving no room for argument or rebuttal, as he firmly placed this decision before her.

Alright, a year it is. But during this time, don’t ask,Aurora said, holding out the spoon, waiting for his agreement.

Heath nodded and opened his mouth for another spoonful of porridge.

Aurora stirred for a long time, feeding him slowly. Heath was patient, waiting for her to feed him, occasionally saying, Eat some more.

Aurora would then pick up a piece of food and feed him, as if the previous tense atmosphere and their arguments had never happened.

After finishing the meal, Aurora cleared the dishes and asked, When are we returning home?

In a few days, once I get these bandages off,Heath said.

Returning home with his injuries would surely stir up a storm. Not to mention, his own family, the Fairbanks, would likely seize the opportunity to cause him more trouble while he was down.

Aurora, bored and listless, sat nearby. Heath knew she was bored; ever since they arrived in America, she had been cooped up in the hotel, caring for him, even eating all her meals in his room.

Why don’t we go out for a bit?Heath suggested.

Really?Aurora’s eyes lit up, but then she pointed at his shoulder, Your woundis it okay to go out?

Heath nodded, It’s fine, just have to be careful.

Aurora leaped up, excited, I’ll go change!

:

She ran to her room and changed into a simple Tshirt and shorts, slipping on sneakers. When she returned to Heath’s room, he was awkwardly trying to dress himself, having just taken off his robe.

Aurora, with a mix of resignation and embarrassment, helped him into his shirt, buttoning it up with her head down and her cheeks nushed.

Heath lifted her chin with his hand, a teasing smile in his voice, Shy now?

Aurora swatted his hand away, Pervert!

Heath chuckled, his tone playful and slightly roguish, You’ll see it sooner or later, why be shy?

Aurora:

Once they were dressed, they left the hotel. Aurora asked, Aren’t we getting Kieran to drive us?

Heath shook his head, taking her hand, Why drive when we’re just out for a stroll with you?

Aurora was delighted, walking alongside Heath. They were staying in a bustling part of the city center, right next to a commercial plaza. Aurora pulled Heath into a mall, looking around with interest, delighted by everything she saw.

Heath followed her into the mall, Buy whatever you like, it’s rare to take you out.

Aurora glanced at him, smiling sweetly, Are you paying?

Heath nodded, I’m paying.

Aurora picked out a few clothes, a necklace for Cheryl, and a shirt each for Daxton and Zane.

Heath’s expression soured as he saw her holding two men’s Tshirts, Who are those for?

Aurora, carrying her shopping, replied nonchalantly, For Daxton and Zane. As their boss, I have to offer some perks, don’t I? Not like you, who can afford to give away cars and houses.

Heath’s face darkened, silent. This woman hadn’t even bought him clothes before!
