Aurora’s back pressed against Heath’s chest, the heat between them almost overwhelming. She coughed lightly, stammering, “I… need to use the bathroom…”

Before she could finish, Heath gently adjusted her position, flipping over to be above her. Not pressing down on her, but his hands planted beside her ears, sending a wave of inexplicable nervousness through her.

“You awake now?” Heath asked, locking eyes with her.

Aurora closed her eyes in resignation, saying with a mix of frustration and sarcasm, “So, it turns out you were the one I slept with. It’s not like you lost anything in the process!”

Heath was momentarily speechless.

‘Slept with me?‘ he thought, his pride slightly wounded. Did Aurora really believe she had somehow taken the upper hand in this

situation?

“So, you think you’re the one who slept with me?” Heath asked, his gaze becoming slightly dangerous as his hand slid to her waist, speaking through clenched teeth, “And you don’t feel like taking responsibility for that, do you?”

Aurora’s heart skipped a beat at his menacing look. “Take responsibility?”

Heath pinched her gently, a playful threat in his voice, “What do you think?”

“Ouch!” Aurora exclaimed. “How can you take seriously whatever happened when drunk! I don’t even remember anything. I’m at a loss

here too!”

Frustrated, she raised her fists in a mock threat.

Heath then rolled over to his side, speaking lazily, “We didn’t do anything.”

Aurora, baffled, responded, “Huh?”

Glancing at her from the corner of his eye, Heath teased, “Disappointed?”

Aurora, utterly confused, asked, “Then why am I undressed?”

His eyes flicked to the floor. “Took them off. They’re on the ground.”

Looking under the bed, Aurora saw their clothes scattered around. Covering her face, she asked, “And what about the clothes I’m wearing

now?”

Heath, hands behind his head, glanced at her. “I bathed you and changed your clothes.”

Aurora was stunned. “You bathed me??”

Meeting Heath’s smiling eyes, she covered her face again, “Alright, I get it. No more questions…”

Chapter 158

She got out of bed and left the room, slamming the door behind her. Five seconds later, she re–entered quietly, picking up the clothes from the floor.

Heath chuckled. “Disappointed I didn’t take advantage of the situation?”

Aurora, her voice small, replied, “…No.”

After a shower and changing into fresh clothes, she joined Heath in the living room.

Heath, freshened up and reading the newspaper, invited her to eat. “Let’s have breakfast.”

Aurora observed the chaotic array of gifts, a cream–covered teddy bear, and spilled wine everywhere. “All this…”

Heath nodded. “Your masterpiece.”

Aurora fell silent.

“Let’s eat first. The servants will clean up later,” Heath suggested, leading her to the dining room.

As Aurora sat down, he handed her a cup of honey water. “Drink this before eating.”

She obediently sipped the honey water, which soothed her pounding headache.

“Sophia has been bailed out,” he informed her.

Aurora paused, her spoon mid–air. “Bailed out?”

“Yeah, the Pendletons took care of it this morning,” Heath continued.

Aurora frowned, staying silent. She knew the Pendletons wouldn’t give up on Sophia that easily, though she disliked their coddling treatment of her.

“What about Silas?” she asked.

“At home. Thane hit him,” Heath said indifferently, seemingly uninterested in Thane’s issues,

“Why did Thane hit him?” Aurora was surprised.

“Because I sent Thane’s girlfriend to Silas‘ bed,” Heath said nonchalantly as he ate his breakfast.

Aurora didn’t respond. Heath looked up at her, explaining, “She agreed. A third–rate model, being with any rich patron is a win for her.”

Aurora nodded, understanding this as Heath’s way of clarifying he wasn’t a man who played dirty – at least not in the way she might

think.

“I need to head back to the Pendletons,” Aurora said decisively.

Heath frowned, concerned. “Do you really have to go back?”
