Heath reluctantly agreed, offering, “I’ll drive you there.”

Aurora shook her head. “No need. Jay will pick me up.”

After breakfast, Kieran drove Heath to work, and Jay came to take Aurora home.

Arriving at the grand Pendleton estate, Aurora first visited her grandfather, who was sitting on the sofa. He sighed upon seeing her, asking, “Did you stay at Heath’s last night?”

“Yes,” Aurora nodded. “Lysander and the others threw me a birthday party. It ended late, so I didn’t come back to disturb you, Grandpa.”

Her grandfather gestured her closer. “Come here, sit with me.”

Aurora sat on the carpet beside him. “What’s wrong, Grandpa?”

He gently stroked her hair, asking, “Is it true, what Sophia did?”

Aurora affirmed with a nod. “Would I lie to you, Grandpa?”

He sighed deeply, his rough hand caressing her face. “Aurora, my dear, I’m sorry you had to go through this.”

Tears welled up in Aurora’s eyes. She had braced herself for a scolding or at least some stern words from her grandfather, especially since she had aired the family’s dirty laundry for all to see.

But instead of blaming her, he only expressed concern for her well–being.

She had thought she could handle Sophia’s actions, considering them just a minor hiccup in her life. But now, feeling her grandfather’s loving gaze and his tender touch, she felt a deep sense of injustice.

Regardless of whether his favoritism was influenced by her relationship with Heath, at that moment, he was the best grandfather she could ask for.

“Sophia has been bailed out, your father must have pulled some strings,” her grandfather mentioned.

“I know,” Aurora responded.

Her grandfather stroked her hair, pondering, “Will you still press charges against her?”

Looking up, Aurora asked, “Do you want me to drop it, Grandpa?”

He sighed again. “I’m old, Aurora. I can’t meddle in the affairs of you young people.”

“You’re not old, Grandpa! You’re going to live a long, healthy life!” Aurora beamed.

Her grandfather playfully nudged her. “Why don’t you just move in with Heath? You’re hardly ever home!”

Rubbing her forehead, Aurora giggled, “No way! I want to stay with you, Grandpa.”

“I don’t need your company!” he grumbled affectionately.

“I need yours. I cherish you, Grandpa!” Aurora smiled, moving closer.

Leen handed her a gift box. “What’s this?”

He smiled. “A birthday gift from your grandfather. He was quite sad you didn’t come home last night.”

Aurora teased, looking at her grandfather, “Really? Were you sad, Grandpa?”

He nudged Leen with his cane. “Nonsense!”

Aurora unwrapped the box to reveal a dazzling diamond necklace. Its delicate chain held a pendant with a pink diamond, its design fresh and simple, perfectly showcasing the gem’s clarity.

Leen smiled, “You have a pink diamond bracelet from Heath, so your grandpa specially got this necklace to match it.”

Aurora called Little Fish to help her put on the necklace and turned to her grandfather, “Does it look nice?”

Her grandfather poked her with his cane, “Rebellious, aren’t you?”

As they bantered, a commotion at the door interrupted them. A servant announced, “Mr. and Mrs. Pendleton have arrived.”
